A question regarding the endless pursuit for more payload. We have just purchased a Burstner LyseoTD680G. We hope to be able to travel with a Scooter in the rear garage. Burstner advise not to store over 150kg in the garage to ensure the front wheels maintain safe contact with the road. So I'm looking to offload or move weight from the garage to the habitation area or dispense with unwanted weight altogether. This brings me to the jack set supplied by Fiat. It weighs in at 7.5kg. Now Fiat don't supply a spare wheel, just a puncture repair kit. My question is, especially to those who have experienced calling out breakdown services in the UK and particularly in the continent, do they normally carry their own Jack's, or are they going to get the hump if they turn up and find their is no vehicle jack? Also, I'm struggling to find the instructions for the puncture repair kit. Do I need to jack up the vehicle to use the kit?

As far as puncture repair kit goes we have not needed to use ours in the last three vans we have owned however they will only do for a puncture if your tyre give out (blow out) it’s next to useless? We have always carried a spare wheel as when in Europe you have to carry the means to change a wheel?

The only thing in that 7.5kg kit that might be used is the towing eye. You will need to keep that on board.

Throw away the wheel wrench and buy a longer bar and socket. The bar provided is unfit for purpose

The weight limit for the garage area may not be related to front wheel adhesion but to strength of any rear chassis extensions... worth checking.

Extending 1/2 inch bar with suitable socket and a 3 ton bottle jack all fitted under the bonnet so weight isn’t a factor but useable in an emergency,

I had a puncture, the first one ever in a mhome ,on the way to Drax, last week.TPM warning so pulled into to the services on M18.
Rear offside Tyre was down to 1.3 bar.I couldn't feel it on the driving.
Changed to the spare.using the Peugeot supplied jack. When I was at Drax I tried to repair it ,piece of wire 2-3 mm dia( top of inner sidewall) as a get home spare .I used plugs and a can of spray gunk, waste of time and it was only a tiny hole.Glad I had a spare.
At home now and off today for a new tyre .

I suppose I could have called the breakdown service but decided to change the wheel myself.Wheel nuts came off ok with the van toolkit wrench and the jack was sturdy enough.
Spare was under the van on a retractable cable, which dropped down after a kick.punctured tyre went back under ,no issues.
Total time in the services ,less than an hour.
Best of luck if you don't carry a spare, especially abroad .
