that is a whole lot of weight to add to an extended chassis. are you certain you have available axle load? the fulcrum effect will put more weight on the axle than the combined weight of the carrier and the scooter

Not sure as not done a calculation and looking for a company who specialises in this

You're going to need a jobbing engineering workshop for that, not a specialist company.

A couple of L shaped (to miss the rear skirt) flat 6mm steel plates is all it needs.
One end bolted to chassis and drop below skirt with your brackets bolted to other end

Jobbing engineer?

what weight do you have on the plate for the back axle? and get the van weighed to see what is available. will save you a lot of money if you know that small detail

Thanks.i've not worked anything out, guess I'm being lazy.but will get those details and see where I stand.cheers

Thats starting to look like some serious sort of moment of force at that distance . :(

And of course there is the spare wheel which I was thinking could be incorporated in the platform and the stability legs when parked.

Nooooo! Adding even more weight to the rear axle.
The further behind the axle you put something the more weight it imposes on the axle even though its own weight is the same.

Which Scooter ?

I dont think you have a cat in hells chance of staying legal on weight

I have a vespa.i think it is doable and there is a company which can do this.i just need to find it.cheers

I travel light but only have 60kg of spare capacity at 3500 kg. With empty water tank maybe 150kg. Scooter and rack can easily wiegh more than that. Check your wieght before you

Could you supply dimensions from where the bracket needs to be located to the chassis section you wanted it attached to? in mm!!!!
To be honest from the pics you've supplied it looks not only like the rear stabiliser legs will be in the way but that seems to be one hell of a distance to the chassis beams.
and what sort of "scooter" are we talking here? a plastic battery operated thing or a full on petrol engined step through.. If the latter what weight class is that MH on?

The OP states it's a Vespa. The Vespa in the picture would weigh about 145kg.

I suspect you may well overload the rack never mind overloading the rear axle of the motorhome.

But this web site may assist.

According to the Spec Sheet for the MH the payload is 575kg so how on earth can you put a scooter on the back and still be legal. As for fabricating something up to hold it all you also need something to fasten it all to in the first place.

I suspect that what you are proposing, is likely to overload your rear axle, more especially if you also have 27kg or more of Spare wheel in the same location. My suggestion could be to look at alternatives?:-

The Photo is as you can see for a American Device. But I believe that European alternatives are available.

I ve been cringing at this thread since it started just on the weight/fulcrum issue well put by others so I didnt post another "You re going to be so overweight" post.

The last 2 posts certainly look to be a good solution.

Good luck
