Hi. Just cleaning the van today and found drops of resin from the trees - and it doesn't seem to want to come off without damaging the van? Any easy and safe removal tips, please......

It's pretty warm - in the sun in Portugal! It must have been on a month and gone hard, before we noticed it!

Anti bacterial gel works well, or the ferretería will sell you a benzine based product but we prefered the gel. (y) Bob.

Thank you for your advise. We tried the sanitizing gel - it didn't seem to soften the resin. When we're near an appropriate shop we'll give the white spirit a try....l

I’d suggest trying turpentine
It’s a natural solvent

Don't know whether it will work on dry resin, but I have used olive oil to get resin out of a friends hair. You then need something to cut through the oil to clean that!

I found that isopropyl alcohol was quite useful at removing that sort of gunk.

Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover sold by Halfords and also on Amazon could be worth a try.

Pine tree resin is very much like Tar and we use this to remove the resin that sometimes drips from the knots on the roof of our wood cabin with good results.

Simple// Raw alcohol brought from the chemist ( I got mine in one or chinese bazaar type shops in Spain but chemist here do it ) Cost about £2 .. you use so little a small bottle will last for years.

Put a bit on a cloth
Wet the resin
Wait about 10 seconds
Wet the cloth again with a drop more alcohol and rub the resin away real easy :)

Brake & clutch cleaner then a bit of polish.

Alcohol, acetone (nail varnish remover) etc, it all takes the wax off and needs replacing.

Isopropyl Alcohol.

Do not use brake cleaner ..Or Acetone... Just don’t.

Always check that whatever you use will not damage the surface. Find a wee spot out of sight and try the product there before using it anywhere else.

Reasons Charlie?

It’s way to aggressive my friend... It may work ok on some surfaces but the surfaces on motor homes are huge in types and variations. Caution is better than regretting using a product for something it’s not designed for ..
