Hi, We have a1997Wayfarer motorhome. We do not have power if off hook up. How do u get battery to charge ? What should control panel setting be on when travelling or attempting to charge battery ? The van came with no habitation manual so we are struggling getting to grips with this side of things.Any help would be much appreciated or if anyone has a manual for the 1997 wayfarerl for sale or knows where we can purchase one from that would be great.
Many thanks in advance for any help,
Cheers Sandra

Hiya, we had and owned a '97 Wayfarer until very recently. If you're not connected to a mains electricity supply you won't have power to the sockets (a fact that eluded us as beginners). On the left side of the the van there is a box accessible from the outside, there should be a leisure battery in there...This will give you 12v power when not on mains. The control panel is on the wardrobe wall. The main switch toggles between the van starter battery and the leisure battery. When you drive the split charge relay system located on the left side under the bonnet will divert current from the alternator to the fridge charging the battery and powering the fridge when you're driving. The leisure battery will also charge when you connect to mains. The control panel should have the main switch set in the middle position when driving and when you're not using the van. The sub-switches run the various lights and water pump, there's fuses in the round caps beneath the little switches. The leisure battery is also fused (located under the left hand couch on the floor). If you're out and about you'll only want to use the leisure battery or you'll flatten the starter and you're stuck! There used to be a very comprehensive website on the autohomes wanderer called ourwanderer.org but the chap who built it was in his eighties and the links no longer work.
If you have any further questions fire away.

It's a zig marque 3, there will also be a panel for the carver water heater. Here's a link to a video about zig units .
