Hi all. We have our first pet passport issued in Belgium last year. This will be the first time we have used it, and I've noticed that vet didn't put any owners details in. Can I do this, or can a vet only write in it? Thank you.

We wrote our address in our Belgium pp and have used it several times, the only issue we had was the dates the vet put for rabies which were carried over from uk passport, remedied when we had new rabies jab in France

Hi Vikki and welcome to the Fun!
:welc:

You can fill in the owner details yourself. Did you have another rabies booster administered when the Pet Passport was issued?

No, the vet copied over the details from the AHC. Thanks for replying.

Just check what date the vet has written for the 'date of application or reading' of the microchip in Section III. It needs to be the same as or earlier than the date of the rabies vaccination.

Also did the vet stamp and sign the rabies vaccination entry?

Have just checked, the date of vaccination and the date of microchip reading is the same. He did sign and stamp the rabies vaccination entry too. So hopefully we are good?

That should be fine. Transferring rabies vaccination details into a Pet Passport can be tricky but it sounds as if your vet did it properly. (y)

Thank you.🤞

At least you will have the AHC to fall back on if the new op doesn’t work, like owes, we had to get a second AHC to get the rabies sorted

Hi, further to this post. We obtained a Pet Passport in Donegal at Carn Vets. All good. When using to go abroad now is there anything else we need to do prior to going on Eurotunnel at Folkestone. We are aware of the Tapeworm thingy required on the way back as have had AHCs in the past and can see in the passport the place where the vet will complete and stamp the details. However I saw on another forum that you need a vet to sign to say the dog is fit to travel, is that correct?

I believe the fitness to travel is for unaccompanied dogs.

As others have said, the clinical examination section only needs to be completed if a carrier requests it - which generally means an airline (presumably due to the stress involved if a dog has to travel in the hold of an aircraft) or a pet courier who is transporting your dog without you accompanying it (probably for liability/insurance reasons). It is not needed for Eurotunnel or any of the ferries.

Thanks. The other forum was mainly on Irish travellers (inc NI). Phew
