Hi, we were at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park last week. I don’t know if this will help but there are a lot of Travellers there, kids riding round on electric scooters it’s only a matter of time before there’s a serious accident plus the Adult Men playing the popular game of chucking horse shoes which is rather worrying if they are near your Van. I asked about it in Reception but I gather it’s not something they want to mention, if you do turn up and don’t fancy it you won’t get a refund if we were forewarned we would’ve gone somewhere else.

We live a couple of miles away from Penewan Sands and this sounds about normal for particularly half term week. I'm not sure about travellers though. Looking down on the camp site it does look like Gladstonbury in summer! Over crowded and packed out! Definitely not our style of touring.

The local pub, we avoid in the summer months. The camp site is definitely not for us as we prefer peaceful and seclusion. Having said this, some forum members like this site and have returned several times, and many holiday makers return every year that we have met.

It is a beautiful spot, on the beach and a pub with good food a few steps away. A nice place to stay if you you have kids and want to be next to the sea with a sandy beach. Swimming pool and onsite food and bar is a plus!

Its what tickles your fancy!

Definitely Travellers, they are at one end in H field. Commercial vans, twin axle Caravans, feral kids 😕. We were told in Reception they didn’t realise as the bookings were online, maybe they should state in t & c’s no commercial vehicles or twin axle’s then check the electoral roll like the larger Campsites have been doing for years. My point of putting this on a forum is I don’t expect to pay for 5* and end up having to lock everything away every night I would rather sleep in a layby, I’m just glad the Campers either side warned us.

We used to camp at Pentewan sands every summer when I was a child, hundreds of years ago. We’d drive down from Hampshire overnight - it look a lot longer in those days - with my sister and I sleeping in a made up bed in the back of the car with the seats laid flat, and join the queue waiting for the site to open at 8am. All the camping stuff must have been on the roof rack as we didn’t take a trailer.
Sorry, it’s not relevant to your problem but it triggered lovely memories for me.

Last time we were down that way we stayed on Little Winnick and it was good.
Nice walk down the path down the riverside to The Ship. Good pub, decent beer and dog friendly (within reason!).

However, I have my doubts if we'd have got in with the way he looked like on the way back. Went back on the path passed the bike place.

ps if you're walking on the path down the hill that brings you out at The Cove cafe and find a ball any chance you can post it back to us?

Do they have dogs as they are not permitted.
That's the reason we stayed on Little Winnick.

No Dogs at PS, we’re at their sister site Heligan where dogs are allowed. It’s next to the Gardens and a great farm shop, a lovely clean site with sea views, cycle routes and the Staff are very helpful and friendy. We’ll try Little Winnick later in the year.

You can check pitch availability on their website and book a specific pitch at the time of booking.
