I know there is much talk of this on here but I have a quick question that needs a quick answer, our tracker FB is already uprated to 3650 gross weight, can I get another uprate without the need for any mods, say to 3850?

Ask SV Tech, they will be able to advise. There is an online form on their website you will need to fill in.

I suspect you will need to change something otherwise why was it only uprated a small amount?

Yes you can we had a 2013 Tracker FB and uprated to 3850 kg with air assist and heavier rated tyres to rear axle..

Yes I think that’s correct but we found we had to up rate due to lack of payload,
We had that van for three years and loved it but we wanted to take a car with us for winters and it would not have been fit for purpose by the time tow bar was fitted.

At the mo it is loaded with some food, some clothes, half tank of fresh water, 2 full 7kg gas bottles, 2 camping chairs & table, 3/4 full tank of diesel plus all the usual habitation bits, gonna get it to a weighbridge on friday hopefully, & hopefully i'm not already over the top

Think you will be close we always liked to carry fresh water when travelling down through France as a lot of the aires had water turned off, the up rate just made that bit of difference and in our view worth the expense.

It’s the axle loading the will restrict any higher payload without mods, semi air will get you the 3850 but to get 2240 over the rear axle you will need to go from 215/70/r15 to 225/70/r15.

Auto Trail quote a figure of 3265kg for the MRO IIRC, does anyone actually know what is included to make up this figure, obviously the conversion but what bits n bobs? cooker, fridge, media, microwave, awning, fuel, water, gas etc etc?

Not sure exactly what AT include but usually 90% fuel 75kg for driver 1 gas bottle and either 20 Lt water or no water. The MIRO is always quoted on the basic van so any option and extras will reduce the payload. Most vans take advantage of 5% weight tolerance so it's likely to be over by at least a 100 kg to start with.
I would think even at 3850 it's going to be very tight to run legally. I think impossible at 3650.

They used to have a weight calculator on their web site that gave that info can’t find it now I did notice that the fuel tank is only 60 ltrs

That's always a giveaway that their is not much payload.

You always need to check the brochure relating to the year of the van regarding MIRO to see what is / is not included. Autotrail have changed specs over the years. My 2012 apache 700 was quoted MIRO with a full water tank, later same models were quoted with no water. any extras will add to that so a trip to a weighbridge is always best

We have an Apache700 which is rates at 4250 max. On the weighbridge recently it was just over 3600 and was loaded up in a similar state to yours with regards to food,clothes , fuel etc but with only the navigator inside. No problem for us in that scenario but it sounds like you could be very close to maximum . Good luck with the weigh-in .

So, I found this on the Autotrail manuals page for the 2013 Tracker FB

The Mass in Running Order includes a 75kg allowance for the driver and 90% full fuel tank, gas bottles and water tank. All weights quoted are for standard vehicles. Please take care to ensure that you have allowed for the masses of all items you intend to carry in the motorcaravan. e.g: Passengers, optional equipment, essential habitation and personal effects such as clothing, food, pets, bicycles etc.

So I take this as, 90% full fuel, water & gas (empty or also 90% full I wonder? no real clarity here), 75kg for the driver, all the factory fitted standard stuff ie. fridge, cooker, microwave, awning, standard TV/media & coachbuilt stuff & fittings in the MIRO of 3265kgs

Which leaves me with 385kgs for possibly some water & gas, other half & dog, clothes, food, drink, bedding, solar panel, pots/pans/plates/cutlery, outside table & chairs, windbreak & various little sundries!

Think I'll remove the bikerack as we'll never ever use it

Good luck with it they are a nice van but sadly not enough payload.

I wonder if Fiat might have a part to play in this. The smaller fuel tank could be covering up the the additional weight needed for AdBlue.

No, quite a few AT that have low payloads have the 60 Lt even before Adblue was thought of. Standard tank and it has not changed it's 90 Lt with an option of 120 Lt.

I believe that the 'standard' tank size for vehicles which use AdBlue is 80 litres, leaving 10 litres for the AdBlue tank = 90 litres in total.

So I'm back from the weighbridge, I was quite shocked really! I'm about 75% loaded for what we take for a long weekend, 45litres of diesel, 25litres of fresh water, 2 full gas bottles, full compliment of crockery, cutlery, glasses, all tinned food, beer in fridge 12 cans, clothes that stay with Moho, bedding, bathroom items, all extras etc,

Left figures are the stated max, right are what the Moho actually weighed.

Max load 3650, actual - 3460
Front axle 1850, actual - 1480
Rear axle 2000, actual - 1940

So I have 190kgs left to play with!

75kgs for the OH & dog which will be mostly over the front axle.
25kgs more of water (I like to carry 50% in tank)
15kgs for the solar panel I'm having fitted.
15kgs more diesel to fill tank (again weighted more to the front axle)

Which now leaves me 60kgs to play with (a bit of fresh food for the fridge, wine & beer, a few more clothes maybe another 20kgs)

So I have a cushion of roughly 40kgs, I'm well pleased with that result, was fearing i might not be able to carry anything else!

A good result a lot better than I would have expected. Very little to play with on the rear axle.
Solar panel won't be that heavy a 100 watt one weights 7- 8 kg.
I take it you are not carrying bikes, a couple of e-bikes on the rear would put the rear axle over and its going to be tight with full tanks.

No bikes, the rack is there but I'm gonna take it off, will save another couple of Kgs I guess, won't travel with more than 50% water either so all will be fine
