Does anyone know if it's possible to get Netflix on an Oyster 2 system, and if so how ?

Don’t know about that but I have it on my fire stick which I replaced recently with a new one and there is a Netflix button on the front.

I have a firestick but I can't find a HDMI socket on the Oyster box, how do you use yours ?

I use an HDMI splitter which allows up to 3 HDMI devices to connect to 1 HDMI port on the TV.

We bought an LG smart TV. We have mobile wifi in the van. We are able to watch Netflix plus a multitude of other stuff, all dependant on subscription of course. Our Oyster dish and receiver are sixteen years old.

Further to my original post there is no HDMI port on the TV as its only a monitor, I was hoping that someone would know if it's possible to fit a firestick or similar to the satelite box I do have internet which I use to watch netflix on my laptop but would like to be able to see it on the TV, it's seem that I need a smart TV ? but then what do I do with the Oyster system?

Connect a screen cable between the monitor and the laptop.

Wouldn’t your oyster just connect to your new tv? No need for a smart tv, just one with an HDMI for your Firestick. Could you get an adapter for the connectors that your current monitor has to go to an hdmi? What connectors are there?

My problem is that it's an overhead drop down monitor dedicated to the oyster system, the only connections on it are for the speakers

Firstly a monitor wouldn't display anything if it's just a monitor. A monitor doesn't doesn't usually have a tuner and needs something to 'give it something to display' (unless it has a built in 'card'). I suspect you have that 'something' connected between your oyster dish and the monitor.
The oyster dish will just pick up the satellite signal - think if it as a fancy aerial - then that signal will go through an aerial cable to 'something' that turns that signal into something you can watch.
If the monitor has a built in card (hardware) then it isn't 'just a monitor' - it may however have no other way of adding another input. The way around that may be to undo the aerial cable to the monitor and insert 'something' that can turn the signal into something you can view, that also has an HDMI input and then feed the monitor.

Alternatively, remove the monitor and buy a TV with a built in satellite decoder that has HDMI inputs, an example of which would be an avtex tv

Thanks for the reply you've grasped what i've been trying to explain, I take it that if I get an avtec tv I would scrap the Oyster system?

I don't know what your oyster system comprises of.....
Most people {me included) would assume that an oyster system is just the dish itself and a control box that controls your sat dish and tells it where to point in order to get the correct signal from the correct satellite (astra 2 is 28.2 degrees East I think) it receives the signal from the lnb on the end of your dish arm and then outputs it to a decoder (think of it as being like a sky box) - the decoder then sends a watchable picture to the TV or as appears in your case, a monitor.
I think you need to do some digging in your van to see what you actually have.
There seems little point in changing your monitor, if you can watch whatever you want to watch! Your monitor mighr be set up to view rear cameras etc so you don't want to replace it if it does!
If you're determined to use a firestick for viewing them you don't need to replace the monitor, just buy a standalone TV (I only suggested an avtex because some have an inbuilt sat decoder) and plug it in somewhere!
I recently added two additional TV points,, both with 12v, standard aerial connection and satellite dish connection in areas WE wanted to watch TV instead of where Adria decided we should watch! You could do the same rather than mess with what you already have, that you know works!
