Hi All,

I have an Oyster HDTV and my remote control is not working on the receiver, i can only operate from the 2 buttons on the "mouse" switch but this doesn't help since i have to to some search on all channels.
The Green led is flashing on the remote control when I press some button but nothing on the receiver.

Also I have noticed that near the batteries on the back I have a switch from B to A. What that does? I have tried with both of them but nothing works.

Thanks

Good afternoon alvinmcniel,

Firstly thank you to AndyPK for the mention.
The Oyster HD remote can be used on two different infa-red settings but the receiver will be set to one or the other and will only work on the setting it is set to (normally A). If the system does not respond to the remote on either settings then the remote could be faulty however it is also possible that the satellite mouse interface could be the problem.
Both parts can be ordered through ourselves or alternatively you can book to bring the system to us where we can verify the fault and exchange parts if needed. Our office number is 01858575928 and we are available Monday-Friday 8:30am till 5pm however please note that for the Easter weekend our office will be closed on the 15th and 18th of April.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Anthony for faster response. Unfortunately I am in Croatia right now and I live in an eastern country in Europe. One last question since you are expert - what about the LNB arm - when I open the antenna first time the arm needs to be manually lower for last ~10-15 cm, it's not coming down totally. Should I use some grease on some articulation parts or what could be the easy fix?

Thanks!

Anyone can help or experienced same issue like myself?

I think best to wait another day. Many UK companies are closed for the long weekend Easter holidays.
Sure Anthony will reply to you once back in the office (y)

Just in case it helps you can test your remote by 'looking'at it via your mobile phone camera.
Most , not all, phones can 'see' the infrared signal appears as a grey blip.

Hi again alvinmcniel

Apologies, I was away over the easter weekend with family and have only just seen your reply.
If the arm does not drop fully from the dish then there are a couple of things you can do. Firstly you can clean out the area around the pivot point as dust and dirt can cause it to become stiff. You can also use silicone or penetrant spray to ease it a little and if it's still sticking after that then there is an allen key bolt with a nut on the opposite end holding the LNB arm in position. Simply undo that a quarter to a half turn and that should then free it. Only thing that's a no no is using WD40.

If you're not sure on the correct angle you can always measure it as well.
With the dish extended run a tape measure from the water run off hole in the top of the dish down to the base on the small rubber nipple on the top of the LNB housing. That distance should be 88-90cm but if it's out of alignment then there is a small 4mm allen key adjuster where the two arms meet so you can lift/lower it to the right height if needed.

Thanks Anthony for very detailed instructions. I will try that fix with the LNB arm you suggested.

Regarding the remote control I can see the flashing when I film it with my phone so I am assuming the remote is ok.
I had a neighbor in the camping with similar Oyster and we tried with his remote which was slight different one but no answer.
Is there a way to test the receiver(mouse) ?

Hi again alvinmcniel

Unfortunately the IR receiver in the mouse doesn't give any signal that it's receiving however if you would prefer to test the unit to see where the failure is we would supply both a new remote and a new magic eye for you to try. We would require payment for both at the time of sale however once the faulty component has been identified then we would happily refund whichever part wasn't required providing it is returned in the same condition as it was received in. If you would like to place an order or discuss further then please give me a call on 01858575928.
