Just wondering if anyone has fitted a Owl spare wheel carrier system to their PVC.
Looking to fit one to our Hymer Mercedes, plenty of reviews from Winnebago Revel owners In the States but Hymer Sprinters have opening rear windows, does the carrier interfear with operation and could I still fit my Atera four bike carrier ?
Looks good quality and not that heavy so could be a solution for lack of spare.

Yes that's it, don't mind not being able to open fully as long as I can open an inch or so for night time ventilation.

Have a look at the you tube video of how they are manfactured here;

day 2 follows on from day 1

the second part shows you the distance between the plate & the door.
Might need to have the wheel on other way around to get space though ?

Not cheap, but 'Proudly made in the USA'
Open to other ideas on how to carry spare externally?

Thought it looked good value compared to this.

I made my own using unistrut and a fiat spare wheel carrier and bolted under rear chassis rails but i had room on coachbuilt and A class

I got one of ebay for 270 raw metal. After a rattle stove paint is nice Matt black. Fitted in less than one hr.

Is that the one made by Wheeliams?
What's the quality like?

Yes, Williams; quality is spot on, good fit, nice welds and nicely grounded. The main plate 14mm thick and good thread cut, m14 with 1,5mm pitch. No prep apart of cleaning with wipes dry out and spray. I bunged up the threads with paper before the paint. Got a set of wheel bolts for 8 quid and did copper greased them.
I had to use some extra large washers ( screfix) on my hinges as I used some pre existing holes. I had to cut the bar in the hinge that makes the door open 170deg. Now opens up till the tyre hits the side.

Thanks for that, looks great.
Big cost difference between Owl and Williams.
Did you have to drill in to the rear door?

Yes, one bolt in the second photo, zoom in, I painted the bolt black. And spreader plate inside. It happened to be double skin right there.
