I am out of touch with the pricing of some of these festivals !
“Lakefest” just under £800 ( non electric pitch for 3 adults and 3 kids !

Retrofest much better value at £231

The festivals are on at the same time .

I have two tickets for Lakefest for sale, in classifieds. 106 each, including camping are early bird rates. Now £160 per adult for threee days music etc.and 4 nights camping.
It's pretty much going rate as we get close to the event.
I don't know how much Glastonbury costs, too big and busy for me.
Lakefest is quite small, one guild with about 6 stages. Very family friendly and completely unpolitical.
Tom Jones played last year, snd was excellent.

Maybe "Lakefest" is better than Retrofest ?
My one and only experience of Retrofest was it was very amateur, and I wouldn't bother to repeat.
Lakefest seems to be a serious music festival - with recognised headliners

Isle of Wight is one of the most expensive I've looked at and just end taking the tent

£280 per person
£280 for van (nil electric, water, showers etc)
£180 for ferry

But it's very good and you can walk in to town for breakfast 😉

A fair bit dearer than when I was there in 1970 then! :ROFLMAO:

Spent the first night sleeping in a bush on the infamous ‘Desolation Hill’ overlooking the site with searchlights panning back and forth to ‘discourage’ us - was a bit like a scene from Apocalypse Now.

It hasn't changed, looks like a tornado has been through the field and that's when people are there

Not idiots just people with a life!!
You can either pay for things you want to do in life or sit at home being a sad waster.
I am in the middle of a complete front garden revamp, £1000 to cut all the bushes and growth out probably around £800 for a mini digger to level ground and remove then minimum of £500 to re-turf then new fencing and a shed probably another £1000. So I don’t sit at home being a sad waster but spend money on what I want to do, but I’m not idiotic enough to waste money on things that are totally overpriced and not good value.
I wouldn’t pay extortionate prices and I can assure you I don’t have a problem affording it.

Some people really enjoy festivals and some don't.

To call people who don't "sad losers" is a bit nasty to be honest.

I'm not a festival attendee but go to many other events that cater for my own interests.

Only your opinion seems to count if it’s overpriced then, if people want to pay to go places why call them idiots?
Probably people thinking your an idiot for paying that much to have a front garden done…

That’s their prerogative, I don’t have a problem with people paying what they feel is ok for something they want to do, but when I feel it’s way overpriced and people are just profiteering I will say so.
I will pay what I think is ok, value for money etc but if I feel it’s a rip of price then I won’t touch it.
You also just said “only your opinion seems to count if it’s overpriced then”
So by that I’m presuming you agree it’s overpriced 👍

We've been to retro (Newbury) the last two times, and it's anything but amateur now.

A good show, we're going again this year.

That's a bit strong.
I must admit I would not spend that sort of money on short term entertainment.
I probably would not for that but have spent up to £400 to take my car on a track day.

Just the point I am trying to make is that why call people idiots who want to pay for enjoyment?
It’s their money their choice 😁

So far not heard of anyone on the wrong side of the grass moaning about how much things cost. Down to individual choice. If enough people think something is too expensive vote with your feet. If others think its worth paying for them good luck to them. We’re paying around £1500 for a trip to Maastricht 5 nights in a hotel and one nights concert at Andre Rieu. We think its worth it others may not. each to their own.
