My step was used (once) at the weekend without being fully extended, don't ask 🤬

It still works ok both extending and retracting, but it definitely has a extra clunk it didn't have before.
Has anyone got any idea if it's damage likely to result in failure, or an exploded diagram of parts, I may slather some extra grease on and hope for the best ?
TIA

If you stepped on it while not fully out you may have stripped some teeth of the motor gear.

Yes, I think thats quite likely. It's still working for now but I'll take it apart and see what's damaged
Thanks

The drive gear wheel is made of what appears to be butter. I believe an upgraded replacement is available

The gears in the Bosch motor are probably plastic and prone to failure, I replaced our motor 5 years ago with a new motor from https://www.bowerspartsonline.co.uk/ at a third of the normal price and it’s been fine since, the Bosch part number is stamped on the motor. The same motor was used to alter the aim of some headlamps where the plastic gears were probably fine for that application.
There is a version with metal gears but you may not like the price.

The recommendation with my step, which isn't quite the same, is that you should not lubricate it as it attracts grit and road muck.
