I rarely use the on board charger, the 100w solar and 100ah battery give us all the 12v we need, all year.

However during my occasional checks of our moho, a 2004 Autosleeper Inca, I found that the charger isn't working, so I want to replace it, our 12v system is very basic, but it works well.

I'm not looking for a 'bells and whistle' item, but perhaps something that might suit Lithium should I ever go down that route (not likely, but never say never), the existing charger is a replacement fitted in 2012 by a previous owner, (see pic).

If your not using it dont bother replacing it. Instead buy a more modern standalone charger that can be moved where you need it , to lesuire batery to van charging point or even the shed. If needs be remove duff charger replace mains connector with a socket and batery points for crock clips on new charger. Concider Lithium when your battries die.

Another vote for the Victron IP 22.
As it was rarely going to be used I fitted the 20 amp version which you can drop to 10 amps on the Victron app if you want to. (y)

Another vote for the Victron, mines a 30amp, sites next to my battery with its own 230v socket and and It can easily be removed

I wasnt suggesting going without, just portable. I have a specific lithium portable Stored in van but could use existing one on gel setting.

Same as me, I always use solar but I bought this for emergencies. Used it a few times in Benidorm when we parked under a tree and at home when running the fridge.
It has a gel setting which we also needed:

If you only use occasionally go the portable route and leave it in the van.The bigger the output current the better within reason as A you will charge battery quicker and B most of the time it will not be working hard, I've just fitted what was intended to be a portable 50amp with lead acid or lithium settings £40 ISH but would say with only 1 battery a 30amp Chinese will do fine( it will almost certainly deliver more like 20 amp) circa £25-£30

Thanks for the reply, I went for the Victron Energy Blue Smart IP22 in the end.. maybe overkill, but nice and compact and easy to fit.
