Why do folk purchase a rubber mallet to knock in steel pegs

I regularly see them hitting a peg 30/40/50 times when 3/4/5 times with a proper steel lump hammer would do the job

Why does it bother me you may say, no idea but it just does

Have I been sat in the sun too long

So what’s your pet hate whilst on site/field/rally?

For the last15y I’ve used battery powered impact gun with variant of long screw pegs, never failed with the latest being a Milwaukee gun, hitting pegs with a hammer a so old hat

Bit overkill just to knock 4 of these in

That said Rogerwyn i use the gun and screw pegs for the awning

Could you empty the sand and half fill it with little ball bearings please

Perhaps we should find out where you are staying and send any one of the following to distract you?
A school party
A camper with generator
A camper with loud music
A Warden with lawn mower or strimmer
A tugger with huge awning to put up.

Just kidding. We all get irritated by things others do. Mine is people using any type of hammer or mallet but holding in right up by the head so no 'swing'.

You forgot the camper with the yappy, little, rat-like dog that insists on pissing on your van wheels.

I always enjoyed operators with a point to prove when a pin required removing I would hand them the 28lb hammer then stand back and enjoy

On a site a tugger turned up early morning and put all his steadies down with an impact driver !

I've used an impact driver for my pegs for the past 10yrs.

I still forget to where rubber gloves incase I hit an electricity cable.

I have always used a rubber mallet for knocking the pegs in and then when finished I can use use it to flatten the chicken breasts before putting them on the bbq

But if you use a rubber mallet the shock on your wrist is less, and you will be less likely to bend the peg ?

And it’s quieter and less annoying (mostly) to one’s neighbours.
