INTRODUCTION

From my observation of those many motorhomers who spend some nights either wildcamping or on free aires, that they also use paid-for campsites/CLs/aires.

These people do not take kindly to such titles as FLTs or the like, just because sometimes they park in places for which there is no charge.

There are frequently posts from motorhomers who, even when on paying sites, do not need or use EHU and shower/toilet facilities

One of the determining factors of being able to include these styles of motorhoming is whether one can operate the motorhome off grid, using only on-board facilities.

PROPOSAL

This is a proposal for an acronym for those who fit the above description to be referred to as

OGG for OFF-GRID GUYS/GALS

FEEDBACK

Would those readers who fit into the description above kindly indicate the following:-

A Whether they welcome a different description, and acronym, of their choice of motorhoming.

B Whether the acronym OGG is appropriate and welcome.

C If the answers to above are ‘Yes’, what is the best way to spread its acceptance and use, even by those who like to criticise that lifestyle choice.

OGT? :)

Sorry, no help but I suggest not worrying about it. You can't change opinions easily so I suggest it is best to simply ignore any detractors. You could try using it but I doubt there will be any widespread take-up. FLT is too entrenched and some take it as a badge of honour. The T can mean whatever folk want - it could be Tourist. :)

I quite like flt being one myself as often as possible and like others see it as a badge of honour. Couldn't we save the other for the people who use flt in a derogatory way it standing for old grumpy gits ?
By the way when I say old I meant in terms of attitude not chronological age but the is calling it an attitude ageist......oh dear!

Seems pointless, can’t we all just be motorhomers?

I think you'll find that I had everything covered in this respect by my post yesterday on another thread 🙂

Well, regardless of gender, from now on all MOTORHOMERS should be called Caravanners

Because they have 'Motor Caravans' according to DVLA

We should also change the forum name to Caravanfun immediately
🙂

I think they should be called Free Floating Spirits...

But I'm not allowed to post the acronym

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Seeing the title, I though you were being polite and that OGG was "oh good gosh"..
Instead of using Oh Please!.

Lol... I have been censored.. I didn't type "oh please". 😁 For Flips Sake..

Could get confused with Nanny Ogg, and she wouldn't be best pleased.

I’m not a FLT but it’s only humour and that’s what I love about this site. Feeling down then come here and have a chuckle because someone always makes me smile even when they call people FLT 🤣🤣👍👍🤣

I've known Mrs Ogg a long time now and you are correct. Wouldn't be surprised if certain people found strange things happening to them - especially if she mentions it to her mate Esme Weatherwax - you never know what will occur once they get their heads together. Haven't received any news of Our Jason in recent years either, nor not likely to sadly.
