I would have thought the last plate of. 3850kg.

down plated the 3850 kg plate would have been replaced or removed.

3850kg should tally up with your log book. V5.

3850kg if you have a C1 license but if not you will need to down plate to 3500kg.

If you have to down-plate to 3500kg, you probably won't have much payload. :(

Cheers everyone that’s what I thought but if I look on swift site it is classed as a 3500 . What are the negatives of driving abroad with a van over 3500 ie tolls vignettes

Depends if you follow the rules....

We don't, and are happy to deal with the consequences if we were to get pulled and asked for the V5.

Cheers
Red.

Swift site Means that was the weight when recommended by swift after production.
mine on the Swift site says 3400. But up plated mine to 3500 as my last plate shows.
and also shows on my log book.
but could have uplated to 3750 kg. With another plate.

the plate should be the same as the v5. And as others said that’s what the law basis it on.

so your official weight is what your v5 log book says. Not the Swift site.

How much road tax do you pay.
It will be £165 if over 3500kg
£200 plus if it's 3500kg or under.

Why does the swift plate and the v5c say these are the plates that matter...

As stated in post #2 neither of those plates count.there is a third plate from swift which should match the logbook .As John said also.If paying 165 quid it is at 3850kg.If paying 285ish it is 3500kg

Mine was updated to 3500 kg. I had to send the details to the dvla .
the swift plate was superseded by the later plate fitted by the coach builder the coach builder then informed the dvla and the v5 was updated or details of the weight were on the v5 when first registered .

any newer plates. Would also have had to be recorded by the dvla
and would be reflected on the currant v5 log book .

so the official weight Now is what is written on the log book and NOT the swift site.

I have always understood that in UK in a stop by DVSA they will go on the latest plated weight. Maybe similar authorities on the Continent do the same, except maybe at Swiss and Austrian toll checks which are to ensure right vignette or 'Go' box rate being paid.

Maybe some who have been stopped and weighed would like to comment.

All plates are dated and it is the latest one that is current and therefore the one that over-rules all previous.

Provided of course that it was issued by an organisation authorised to do so: a self-build converter is not likely to be so authorised.

Sorry not all plates are dated see my old plates. None of the three old ones have the date on them
only the newest plate is dated. And this latest plate is the one the same as my v5 log book.

marked now as the official weight.

Also if updated privately they may not have stuck on the supplied plate/sticker.
all that matters is what it’s registered with at Dvla.

My van's manufacturer's plate says 3500kg. My V5 makes no mention of any weight at all.

It probably does under the line 'Revenue Weight'(RW), which is what the DVLA are interested in, for tax collection purposes.

I have followed through the legal origin of RW and it based on MPLM/MAM so the lazy b******s don't bother to enter the latter once they have decide on the tax to charge you.
