Why is there a concern about how much cover we have for windscreens & windows?
Insurance is something I need to sort out ready for the 14th Aug :)

When people write about campsites what is the abbreviation CL, etc.?

Some big (all) A Class motorhomes have some expensive windscreens. Some have to be specially ordered.

CL and CS camping is basically a glorified farmers field (with water and waste facilitied) which are our prefered campng sites and generally a lot less money than proper camp sites.

OK, so my Peugeot Boxer based MH will be OK for the windscreen but I should find out costings for the coach part's windows to guide any insurance limits.
Thanks for the prompt feed back :)

Cannot answer your windscreen question.
CL - Certified Location is basically a 5 unit field which is afiliated to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.
CS - Certified Site is the Camping and Caravanning Club equivelant to a CL.
Both are usually a lot cheaper and less often booked up than the Club Sites. Some have all the facilities, but some / many don't have any.

Edit:- Note to self, must type faster:rolleyes:

And you gave me enough clues on the abbrv for this quick tinternet search result: "CL is Certificated Location, these are sites affiliated to the Caravan Club. CS is Certificated Site "

If you’re a member of either club ( caravan and camping/ caravan club, though they have slightly longer names now) you can also stay in Temporary Holiday Sites ( THS) They’re usually pretty cheap, rarely have facilities such as shower blocks, but can be a way to stay in some really nice locations in high season at low cost. Price is usually per unit so 4 people in a van pay same as a single in a van.

A new windscreen on my old van was £4500 or thereabouts so you have to shop around to find the companies that will insure you for replacement as many will not.

If your motorhome is a coachbuilt (not A class) built on a Boxer cab \ chassis you should be able to get a local independent windscreen fitting company to replace for somewhere around £150 -200. Well that's what it is for the "same" Fiat Ducato.

I live near some CaMC CL sites :o :)
I can join CaMC and add a family member - oh!!
That's optional, right? Only one of us needs to join to book sites?
But if family members want to share discounts on other club benefits they'd need to join with me?

Sorry it's a pretty trite query - I'm keeping lots worse/different unasked to find out myself...
