Not much sympathy here ..poor guy made a mistake, we have all made them maybe with less severe consequences.

Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.

That motorhome probably weighs upward of 3500kg, common sense should dictate that you shouldn't drive on soft sand. The problem with common sense is that it doesn't appear to be too common anymore.

I did a similar thing when we first had motorhomes 10 years ago.

We had a Pilote A-class and went to Lands End (years before living in Cornwall).

We were directed to park on soft grass. Came back a couple of hours later and the vans sills were touching the grass (took a few hours with a tractor to free us).

I think this is one of those mistakes you only make once :)

Only because they are sometimes sold to imperfect drivers.:p

We parked on seemingly solid grass on a site in Chichester. When my elderly gentleman's problem woke me during the night the distance from step to grass seemed to have shrunk but I put this down to my sleep befuddled state. By morning step was touching ground - problem caused by a leak from nearby tap affecting one wheel only. Luckily the FWD end was on something more solid and I was able to slowly and carefully drive onto the hard road.

p.s. French not German MH

It will have seemed like a good idea at the time.
For all we know, there may have been others alongside them when they stopped.

And we also know that if it had been completely engulfed by the raging sea, it wouldn't have leaked a drop(y)

I know, Lenny, hence my comment that my escapade concerned a French not German MH. I know what I mean.
