... shouldn't be like this. This mattress has just collapsed, it has not been slept on or sat on for a few weeks so it should have reformed a bit. I asked the dealer who says its not covered by guarantee after 2 years. Trouble is, it's been getting worse gradually, so we missed the 2-year anniversary.

I've heard about Duralay, but these mattresses are all different sizes and shapes. I'd ideally like a built in memory foam topper, with obviously a better quality foam base. I'm thinking of doing it myself, but not sure if it'll be any cheaper. There's a local foam dealer in Taunton, but when I spoke to him he sounded a bit "Jack the lad-ish" so not sure I can trust them. It's in a Tribute T670 (Autotrial/Trigano)

To be fair, it's about the only problem we've had with the van.

There are lots of on line foam factories where you can order exactly the size of foam you want,

G B Foam Direct is one I used for an upholstery job without any hassle, might be worth a look.

Think it's Duvalay you're after, https://www.duvalay.co.uk/

They're very good, have templates for lots and lots of motorhomes or will prepare one from your measurements if not. They're not the cheapest around but the mattress they did for us is easily as comfortable as the very expensive one on our bed at home.

Or you could try a good re-upholsterer, probably better as it's a dual-purpose mattress.

Did the van come with a three UK warranty. If it did how can they say the seats only have two years warranty.

If it a case of you only have two years warranty push them on 'Fit for purpose' by writing to supplier and manufacture. If they do not respond quickly having given them an opportunity to rectify the issue, follow up by uploading pictures of the issue along with full details of the make and model of the van onto the dealers and manufactures facebook page and other social media platforms that the respective companies have.

That way prospective customers researching the MH model will see that the vehicles have historic issues that may cause them to not buy such a model.

Once you are in the dealers/manufactures face with such a young aged van I am sure they will come to some arrangement.

I recall reading such action with a car owner parking in the public road outside a car dealers with a large billboard outlining all the issues with a car from the dealer. If ~I recall the matter was soon resolved.

Buy either a sheet of memory foam or a memory foam mattress the right thickness and then use existing as a template and cut to size.

They said habitation issues only warranted for 2 years. I might try approaching AT.

Unless you are a full timer that looks to be very poor quality furnishings. I’ve seen ten year old furniture with more stuffing and shape.

Have you checked out ikea?

This has been going on for some time, it was bearable for me but Mrs Dorwyn's complained for years. It does seem to be Trigano specific.

It had an AutoTrial banner over it when I bought it, but it seems like it is a Trigano, says so on some of the details. It's a great van either way. Just these blasted bed cushions.

The trouble with. 3 year warranty is the exclusions after each year . What is covered in year one is not covered in year two , what is covered in year one and two is not covered in year three. When we get a new vehicle and it comes with a 3 year warranty , you think great until you want some work done then you find out .

Only thing is, I'm not sure that any old foam would be good enough. If the manufacturer can't get it right, chances are Id get it wrong.

But as has been pointed out, it should be fit for purpose. This plainly was not.

If overall you are very satisfied with the MH and its just the seats after the short period of ownership that gets on your nerves. There are many good motorhome reupholstery companies out there, Regal is well thought of. If you go down the re foaming route you will know a good company will give you long peace of mind.

Still stir it up with the company though but it is most probable that even if they replaced the said seats, what are they going to be like in a couple of years.

You mention that this problem has been ongoing for some time, by chance do you have it in writing or can you prove that you brought this to the attention of the dealer within the two year period. If so the problem starts from that time scale

Go for it

A heavy use commercial (pub) type foam with a couple of inches of mattress grade memory foam should work for both lounging and sleeping.

I'll try the dealer and or Auto-trail first, give them a chance to sort it.

The dealer/manufacturer could refuse if deemed excess wear and tear, have you had grandkids jumping over it, are you or your wife a couple of pounds over weight ( not criticising) just something the dealer/manufacturer could use against you in any claim

We bought a 'firm' mattress from Ikea. Double was £100. Unzip it an pull out the foam. Cut it to shape with scissors or a knife. It's more comfortable than our £800 mattress on the bed at home. It's not that thick, but it doesn't seem to matter.

Or seen a lot of action!!!!!

OH is 51 kilo, I'm just over 80 kg. Certainly not full-timing, but we did buy the van to use, not sit on the drive. Mileage 26k, not even 9k a year. Grand kids have only looked inside the van, we two are the only ones to have slept in it. No way excessive use. As I said, the bed as photographed had not been slept on for 2 or 3 weeks, it's even flatter after a night's sleep.

It looks like something that has been used & abused for 30 years.
In fact even longer as mine is 30 years old & the same shape as it originally was with no sag of any description.

That's the essence of it. It's not fit for purpose, it would not cost over much to fix, even less if they had used the correct good quality foam in the first place.

We had similar problem with a new caravan mattress a few years back and got the not covered by warranty rubbish.
I rang the mattress manufacturer and they were only too pleased to replace it. Worth a phone call.
