Inspired by the hairy bikers we fancy a week or so on the north east coast (heading from southampton ) , would ideally like to be either on or very near the shore and also take in some of those lovely coastal towns - amble , robins hoods bay etc - we can be pretty self contained if required . Suggestions from you lovelies most welcome . Have a dog and not afraid of jumping on a bus

We've stayed just outside Warkworth, just a car park provided by the locals so best behaviour👍 walking distance of the beach and Warkworth,Amble just down the road.
Enter from the north, bit of a rough lane but better than the other way which is steep and narrow!

Seahouses has.a great site, think it's called Seaview but not sure, mind it ain't cheap !
I think it’s Seafield and is a great location, to explore from. 👍🏼

As mentioned….not cheap, but bearable if you use the pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub that are included in your price 👍🏼

Broadings Farm for Whitby, easily walkable into Whitby or right on the park and ride…..

Seaview CAMC for Berwick Upon Tweed

Old Hartley CAMC for Whitley Bay….(some small and sloping pitches tho)

Filey Brigg Caravan park for Filey…..unless you want to endure Blue Dolphin

Bridlington CAMC for Flamborough Head

Skegness CAMC for Skeg Vegas

Blue Dolphin near Filey, dirt cheap, brilliant clifftop walks, bus from site into Scarborough/Filey and back. For the price this time of year a steal unless you want to pay about £30 at Filey site as opposed to about £9.

Even in March a lot cheaper than the Filey one
Yup 14 to 20 quid in March…..when available.

I suppose you pay your money and take your chances…..I took the grand bairn to Blue Dolphin this year, whilst good for kids entertainment would I go without her? not a chance.

I’ve stayed at both this year and it‘s horses for courses I suppose.

I use Haven all the time off season and would go for Thornwick Park Flamborough Head, Any Monday from 14th March to the end of March or last week in April and all May , 4 nights less than £40 (i have Freedom trail and a Travis Perkins discount which gets it down to around £35). A path at the back of the site gets you on to the cliff path and its possible to walk up to Bempton RSBP/Flamborough Head, Its walkable into Bridlington or get the bus which comes into the site and then bus from Bridlington to Filey or Scarborough, Have done blue Dolphin but not very impressed with their pitches, another couple of sites close by Primrose Valley and Reighton Sands but even though the bus comes into both sites there is not a lot walkable close by.

When are you thinking of visiting some sites close over winter. Someone already mentioned Annstead Farm, cracking location, Budle Bay is well positioned and on the coast just a short distance North of Bamburgh. https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=11660
The Barn at Beal has views out across to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and has superb walks across to it or along the coast to North or South.

Whitby isn't motorhome friendly although there is parking in the marina car park and don't even think of trying to go down to the dock at Robin Hood's Bay in the MH. (many do and come to grief) Walk down, get the local Bay taxi back up unless your a mountain goat. Weather is generally dryer than west coast but colder, temperatures generally below 10 degrees. The season has slipped over recent (20) years. We've had snow until the end of April here in Sleights (3 miles from Whitby 50 feet above sea level). It 14 degrees outside at 4 in the morning (or is it 3 today?) and the mild weather usually goes on until mid December, then drops and remains cold even freezing through to past Easter (generalisation). Mind you a quick walk up the 199 steps will soon warm you up. Hope you enjoy your visit.

If you fancy Scarborough you can pay to stay at Alpamere water park car park overnight, easy walk to the beach, sealife centre and peasholme park

I thought that motorhome parking in the Abbey car park was OK now?

Excellent info guys - I’ll research on the laptop later today instead of standing in the rain

Thanks

Link house farm is perfect also check out the pub site, walk in to Alnwick The Shepherds Rest

South meadows at Belford is a lovely site, ideal for Bamburgh Castle, lindisfarne, Seahouses and Berwick on tweed.

Not really. It's a case of get away with rather than actually allowed! But, Abbey Farm is a nice site. No electric but on the cliff top and right next door to Whitby Brewery.
Look out over the sea one way and the abbey the other

We did something like that in early spring this year. I might be a cockney but I love Yorkshire and it's folk.
We started at Spurn head, found a free parking spot right on the sea just a mile from the head, Listed on park4night as Humber lane. Then ambled up the coast visiting the various towns and attractions. Hornsea was a revelation. Back in my uni days I fell in love with a Hornsea girl but hadn't been back for about 40 years. It's well worth a visit. As is Bridlington, a good mate of mine is a Brid boy and he was the person who first introduced me to the wonders of Yorkshire. The cliff top park and ride was handy but don't try and stop overnight.....
We found a good free parking spot in Withernsea, close to the police station so felt safe; it's listed on Park4night.
As others have said, don't try and drive down into Robin Hoods Bay. But the old station car park is only a short walk up anyway. and it is lovely.
We didn't quite make it to Whitby this trip, as others say it's not very MH friendly. Shame as the fish and chips are worth the visit.
Then we turned inland as I always want to spend time on the North York Moors.
The moors are MH friendly, one night the ranger stopped by and spoke to each of us as we settled down for the night, basically saying he knows we are going to act responsibly and have a good evening. Very refreshing for the UK.
But there are so many places to stay anyway, including farm and other campsites at reasonable prices.
And of course a fabulous centre for walking and cycling.
We finished the trip with a night in Pickering, again a repeat visit as an old friend lives there. If you go there don't miss the old church of St Peter and St Paul. It's over a 1000 years old and has well preserved medievil fresco's that are as good as those in Europe.

You won't be disappointed.
