At long last, we’ve made our first trip into Norfolk in the van. We’re currently parked at Sandy Gulls, Mundersley, near Cromer and very nice it is too. £24 per night with 16amp ECU available. The trip down from York was fine on day one but pretty protracted on day two. We decided to break the journey near Newark and had a restful night at the Cranwell Air Museum and it then rained most of Friday.

We polled gently along the A17towards Kings Lynn but then got caught in an awful traffic jam at Sutton Bridge where they are carrying out apparently vital maintenance work on the swing bridge. Nearly two hours it took to get past Sutton Bridge but then it was fine.

It took over 4.5 hours to do what should be a two hour trip. Nevermind.

Today we will explore the lovely looking beaches and the sample the delights of Mundersley itself. So far, very impressed with Norfolk except for Sutton Bridge.🙂

Oops. I apologise for my geographical error. 👍
Can’t say anything negative about Lincolnshire as my better half’s family hail from Lincolnshire!

The maintenance on the bridge in Sutton Bridge is supposed to be completed by July ,but will believe that when I see it.
I would go home via Wisbech if I was you!

We travelled down to Norfolk from Lincolnshire last Monday and were caught in that wonderful jam too. Why on earth do they wait for the holiday season to start before commencing these repairs?

The result for us was that we missed meeting friends on the Thursday as we returned from Suffolk via the A1 rather than repeating the Sutton Bridge experience.

Glad you are now enjoying Norfolk.

Yes, we’ve decided that we’ll go back via Wisbech to avoid the Sutton experience. We are going to Waxham Sands on Monday for a night. Apparently, you can see lots of seals. 🦭🦭

Worzels Farm shop and restaurant on the edge of Wisbech is a good stop.

Oh and one other downside of the trip, not Norfolk culpable: we have lost a hub-cap or wheel trim as it seems they’re now called. Searching on the web for one Peugeot replacement has turned into the Holy Grail saga! Not even available for silly money.
I’ve ordered a set of 4 plastic 15” wheel trims(🙂) for £20 and will either replace them all or do as one canny poster advised and keep two of the same type on one side and two of the other on the other side on the basis that you never see both sides of the van simultaneously.
Oh, and I’ll resort to securing them with cable ties, something I’ve shunned in the past.

Thank you for this. We have a 14kg Alugas refillable bottle which has been full since we filled it in France in November 2021. All our trips since then have been in the UK and we’ve stayed on site and used electricity for the fridge, cooking and heating. We’ve been a bit anxious about using gas since LPG has become harder to source in the UK so it’s nice to know there are places dotted about. The Morrisons in York doesn’t do it but Asda at Monks’ Cross apparently has it though I’ve never tried it.

Some more photos.
