Back motorhoming after a 6ish year break!
Picked up our van last week, I don't know why but we were both under the impression that it came with an alarm.

However on closer inspection it doesn't have one, I'm amazed to be honest that any new base vehicle wouldn't have an alarm as standard. Our mistake šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Usually an extra
Iā€™ve had 3 new Motorhomes over the years
Last was an A-class none had anything more than an immobiliser

Vanbitz will see you right, they are the only firm that make and fit Motorhome specific Alarms and Tracker/immobilize. Donā€™t forget to tell them you are a Funster for the discount.šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»

I think it's the videos we have watched we have noted the alarm but it must have been an extra.

It's annoying as we've got loads of things to sort on it and it's just an added extra stress on top!

The relevant question should be whether an alarm is a condition of the OP's insurance policy. That should be ascertained before taking delivery from the dealer.

What's the base vehicle? Ours is fiat ducato and whilst there is no obvious indication that there is a alarm, it does have one. It is automatic with the key fob for the central locking. After a minute of locking there is a flashing red light on the dash.

Obviously only affects the cab doors and doesn't protect the habitation. I got the dealer to fit an full alarm system as part of the deal when we negotiated it.

Not true. We have an alarm which is motorhome specific. Sensors on all habitation doors and garage doors. Possibly not as well species as the vanbitz one from reports I've heard in here- probably not as expensive either though but it is a Category 1 alarm system.

Most don't arrive with an alarm, tracker or engine blocker.

And even if it was an optional extra, quite frankly I'd not want a factory fitted one in any case, because as soon as the professionals find a way around it, then every vehicle of that make and age can be stolen easily (as happened with the 2015 Range Rovers)

Get yourself booked into VanBitz ASAP for a tracker, engine blocker and alarm.
They will also fit solar panels, battery masters and gaslow systems, all of which you probably need and none of which come as standard.

It is the next thing we will be doing. Luckily there is zero chance of it being stolen where it is so it gives us a chance to be sorted asap!

It's a Citroen Relay. There is a flashing red light that does...... nothing šŸ˜‚

Was it advertised with an alarm, as most standard things are listed even if standard fitment šŸ™‚

We picked our new van up thurs on a fiat , no alarm just central locking and factory immobiliser..
Just like most cars try to avoid leaving any thing of value in it.
No alarm will stop them breaking in.
The factory immobiliser should stop them stealing the van but add a clearly visible additional anti theft devices .

Took them less than two minutes to remove the drivers door lock cylinder, from our 2020 Fiat Ducato based van, the Growler alarm frightened them off when they opened the door. (y)

Most just have immobilizers these days as no one pays the least bit of attention when an alarm goes off.

Did the new vehicles just picked up have CRIS? All the caravans had it and you can retro register motorhomes and apply the etched VIN stickers on the windows and the RFI broadcasters the Police use. There was a rumour the motorhome manufacturers were going to join the scheme which makes sense as most of them make caravans as well.

I couldn't tell you to be totally honest! We wanted that particular van and we bought it without seeing it. It wouldn't have stopped us buying it, we are just surprised it isn't standard on a base model van.

Some of the YouTube vids I watched after spoke about the alarm but it must have been an added extra. Oh well, it's a (nother) job on the list šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

We've already ordered a disc lock for the wheel, that should be here any day.

Mine came with a Scorpion ā€œmotorhomeā€ alarm and trackerā€¦ā€¦. Fitted by the apprentice on a Friday afternoon. All easily located (even by the MB truck and van place who conveniently disabled it) and scorpion themselves were useless, so swapped for a vanbitz system.

The silly thing is all of these expensive alarm/ immobiliser devices are easy to remove/disable with a basic knowledge of vehicle electrics, I say this with many years of experience in the motor vehicle industryā˜¹ļø
