Have just recieved my motorhome renewal and under endorsements they have added new this year (We will not pay for loss or damage to the CAR caused directly by THEFT or attempted THEFT , unless the CAR is fitted with a Thatcham approved category 2 immobiliser at the time of loss) I know it is fitted with an immobiliser but can not find in any of the manuals what spec it is? Has any one else had this added or know how to find out what is fitted . Thanks

I think NFU will know whether your model of car needs anything more than the factory fitted one

Not sure how a Thatcham immobillser will stop anyone trying to break in and do damage?

What is the base vehicle? Most vehicles are fitted with Thatcham Category 2 immobilisers at the factory.

Thanks for responses , NicM i agree with you I thought the immobiliser was to stop it starting not preventing it being broken into.
It is a Fiat Ducato 2018 Bursther elegance i920.

Nfu told us that they wanted a Tracker as a minimum requirement and quoted on that basis, when we told them we had fitted a tracker/alarm/immobiliser combo they knocked a few more quid off the price.

We have a new Carthago ELine and NFU didn't need us to fit a tracker.

Indeed with NFU and they did not require Tracker. When I explained that I had Growler and MetaTrak I got a discount

I have a van ,pickup, 12 tractors all insured with nfu, no tracker on any of them.

No requirements from NFU in my case :)

Our nfu agent has come back to us today to say most ducatos from 2002 had cat 2 immobilisers fitted has standard and does not know why they put that under endorsements

It all depends on the postcode you live in

Our van, with Comfort, wont insure us at home at all.
But it is fully insured at the secure storage place on the condition it has Thatcham level tracker, immobiliser and alarm
