We are thinking of using the above ferry at the end of July but the only one thats works for us is the 17:30 which doesn't get in until 22:30. We are concerned about where we would find somewhere to stay at that time of night in France.

Does anyone have any suggestions of places to stay nearby to Dieppe?

There an Aire 400mtr from terminal take last exit on first roundabout follow road it’s on your left card entry think it €11 including lecy
I travel off season and the last time I tried to get on that aire it was full, in July I think you should have a couple of backups a bit further away (y)

And there is another Aire opposite, you can see it on on the right as you are coming into the harbour. Just continue beyond the first Aire, do a right over the bridge and wiggle your way to it. In season there also maybe an issue though.

This question was asked previously and got some replies, including mine about a free aire at Auffay about 30 mins down the road.

Don't forget that if your over 60 you get 20% discount, but only if you phone them.BUSBY.

Decided that with the 20% discount we would go overnight, a little more expensive but you only live once. Saving ourselves a good 250 Km of driving so quite happy! Thanks to all who replied I'll be interested to see how the ferry compares.

It’s an older ferry but fine. We find both ports easy as they are a lot more quiet then Calais and it’s easy to camp over night each side. On the port at newhaven and the Aires in die ppe.

Reviews on Trip advisor reckon on a long wait boarding and disembarking. overall poor, with check in times 90 min before departure and no facilities at the port.

Could all be sour grapes of course

There used to be a small cafe both sides , granted not a full service area type. Comic back they was checking for migrants etc so I guess that would take longer.

Prefer Newhaven Dieppe if crossing the Channel, hate Dover or Folkestone but would use the tunnel if I had pets.

Boarding seems to take no longer than other ferries.......

..... and why is my line always the last to board?
:(

You can just pull over by the entrance or park outside the terminal office. Go out around the roundabout then back in.
The Aire is good but expensive they whacked it up from €7 to €12, should be OK at the Aire but if you go further afield you are not supposed to arrive at Aires after 10pm or leave before 7am so as not to disturb residents.

This is the Aire.

Don't forget to take a pillow. The upright chairs are not comfy. I took a flask and sarnies as well.

I get the overnight ferry with a cabin - get up fresh and past Rouen before it wakes up

We do that, the food used to be OK but it's gone downhill the last couple of years, Iwon'tpay over the odds for rubbish.

We got the 17.30 when we used this ferry and on arrival at Dieppe just stayed in the parking area at the terminal. Was fairly quiet and easy to use. It does get quite busy but we managed to find a space.

Often don't get there until 30 min before departure, that's the problem with living so far away it's 20 miles from home.

Quite a few times we have been first on, first off.:D

There is a second aire in Dieppe. Round from the first over the bridge. You'll find it in Campercontact. Also, we arrived, once, off that ferry and both aires were full. Police were tolerating temporary overnight for vans in the general parking right by the second aire but wanted you to move on after breakfast. You could almost certainly overnight in the supermarket right above the town. These days we head for Beauvais straight off the boat but you may not want to do this at 10.30pm. You could try Le Treport. Top of the hill from the port, hang left and follow signs. Nice little town. Aire on top of the cliffs. Cliff lift down. Plenty in the area before heading off anywhere else.(y)

Cuh! You're lucky, it's 21.8 mls for me.
I also often arrive 30/40 mins before the morning sailing with time for my Shreddies and a brew whilst waiting.
I've been using the port for 40 or so years and visiting the port since the mid 50's when cars were hoisted aboard by crane when it was run by British Rail using their own ferries (the Valencay and Valendray?). Nice relaxed little port but the town's pretty grim. The current Italian-owned ferries are a bit tired and I do avoid the cafeteria food.
I use one or other of the two aires at Dieppe, each of which is no more than 1/2 mile from the ferry. I did get a ticket for parking on the prom (facing the sea) for a couple of hours during the day but never paid and heard no more.
Enjoy.

I just looked on DFDS website booking, also wasted time checking out the CMC ferry booking service, never saw a mention of over 60 discount on either, cheapest price was £140 each way.
But thanks for the heads up, I will call them directly and put on my croaky pensioner voice see if I can get the over 60 discount:D2

Feb/March I paid £152 for a return, last year I did one return for £89.

We are on the ferry late this afternoon, having booked about ten days ago. Price (with 60s discount) was about £90 single, only about £8 dearer than Dover/Calais. As we were intending going down to Loire via Rouen we thought we would give it a go, it’s at least ten years since we used the Newhaven crossing.
As we will be coming over Dartford bridge we are going to go south via A26 rather than keeping on M25 and past Gatwick and Brighton, hopefully the A26 route is ok. Nearly all packed and ready for the off.

I assume that was a jest, but to save you any aggro at check-in they do check your booking against your passport ?
BTW- the discount also applies to students and disabled people so you could say you're a Funster.

You have to give your date of birth over the phone to prove your age. We passed with flying colours. And you do have to phone, no mention of it on they website. You speak to a French person in Dieppe so with my Welsh accent and his French that was fun! Everything had to be spelled out in phonetic alphabet. But we had 20%off!

Only ever been asked if I'm over 60, date of birth never asked done the trip dozens of times.

They are actually slightly younger than BF's ferries ;)
