We've used the MoHo for two seasons in the u.k. and travelled in Spain in the past but just villas and hotels.
We're arriving in Bilbao and driving back to Le Havre.
I've got the ACSI books and app and Camper contact app.
Is it possible to book direct from the apps or do you choose from them and then email? Are the 'aire' type spots just on a turn up and take your chance basis?
We're thinking up to Pamplona, follow the pilgrim route up to Santiago de C. then coast road back to Bilbao before we head towards France.
In the u.k. we like a nice site and happy to pay for it, Spain looks a bit different but we have all facilities on board and a solar panel. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.

Aires you can’t book, and using acsi you can’t book!
In any case, this time of year there’s no need, plenty of space everywhere, although never any harm calling ahead to check . Enjoy!

What Dave just said.
My only bit of advice is to get to the intended Aire early pm, the earlier the better.
We are aire-ing at the moment and a few of the more popular ones do get filled up by roaming Frenchies.

Use camper contact to read the reviews of an aire and try a few ! You may be pleasantly surprised.

Here are 3 ACSI sites in Spain that we liked.

ACSI Camping la Isla Picos Europe, which is inland at Potes. This is a lovely old town, there are fabulous drives through gorges to and from the coast. The campsite has good views and is well laid out and has a pool.
And

At SAN Vicente de la Barquera. This is a lovely coastal town and if you look at the camping website it’s in a fabulous location.

And
Castrojeriz Camping El Camino. on the El Camino Privitivo route is a nice old town with many hostels for walkers. We stayed at the town campsite, ACSI I think, which also has barn type bunks for walkers at 3euro per night when we were there.

Family run mostly by the younger generation, the Dad is a keen photographer and takes visitors out on Great Bustard photo trips in his small jeep off road careering across the fields!
