This guitar was given to my mother in law by a patient at least 30 years ago. She gave it to my wife who put it in the loft as the neck was lose. Yesterday my wife asked me if it was worth fixing.

A little internet research and it would appear it is a French guitar made in about 1820 or so!

The label on the inside says it was made in Mirecourt, France. The reseller has a Royal Warrant and the crest has the shield of Hanover in the centre. This dates it to George III, IV or William III as Victoria removed it.

I am now wondering if my skills are good enough for what could be a very old guitar.....

Watch this space!

There is every chance that an attempt to do a DIY repair will totally ruin it. I strongly advise either a specialist luthier takes a look at it or it is sold as is. A call to this company may be the way forward if you decide to sell. https://guitar-auctions.co.uk

Thanks for all the interest.

My wife will be having a chat with the Uni's music professor today and after that they may involve the history man.....
