Hi.
When we lived there, they started trials with " Refective Horse neck bands ". This was a help at night and there was a blanket 40 mph limit on the whole area.
Tea Bag.
There was a lot with neck bands on

Thank you Langtoftlad
I'm guessing you have a very nice camera - but it still takes a lot of skill to capture an image like this... skill I can only dream about..

If I took a shot like this, I'd probably be entering into a competition - but at the very least printing it out & sticking it on my wall.

Feel like an old timer
You are rather good Gaz, thank you. (y)

I lived in the New forest for over 25 years. We saw the change into a national park too. My wife hit a cow late one night but we avoided hitting any ponies. Pigs were also a problem. Most of our local farmers had commoners rights so their animals roamed the forest. Any problems we carried the phone number of the local Agister in our pockets and they dealt with injured, trapped or poorly animals (In the New Forest, an agister is a local official whose role is to assist the Verderers with their duty to manage the free-roaming animals that the local commoners are allowed to release onto the forest). The Agisters often were on horse back as this enabled them to get to places where even a land-rover would have fun!

Many ponies are privately owned and the identification is how the mane is cut, if you look closely you will notice a distinctive cut in the mane.

Hundreds of them about , I go fishing down the Forest one a month for the weekend in the van and normal spend a day riding around on the mountain bike.
Still surprised there is a 40mph on most of the roads🙁

We go to a pub down there and they come in through the door😁
