Has anyone got Netflix to work in the van using a 3 dongle.
Our granddaughter set this up in the house for us and even though modern movies are crap for us old farts to watch I thought it maybe better than nothing when we go to Spain and cannot get freesat.

I have been sat in the van testing it using our 3 dongle and try as I might it will not work, so is it me that is lost with these techie things?

Did a 30 day free trial of Netflix while in Portugal last month I was using a NOS unlimited Data sim worked fine that was on 4 G.
No reason why it shouldn't work on a 3 dongle but 3 limits you to 3 g abroad and you will need a good fast connection for the streaming to work well. Also you will be limited to 15GB of data a month, we got through 30 GB in two weeks and only watched a few films, hard to find anything worth watching on Netflix.

This week I bought an Android TV box with 64GB memory and doing an Amazon prime 30 day trial, busy now downloading loads of series & films for our next trip.

Just in case you are not aware, you can also download some (not all) films and tv shows using Netflix and then watch back when offline.. I find this handy when we fly out to Spain for the odd week or the grandkids will download stuff they want onto their tablets for an UK trips when away in the Motorhome..

We use netflix while on continent. but we use it on our iphone and then mirror it onto the TV

Not entirely relevant to your question - but presuming you can get it to work and you have the right Three contract... Netflix can be streamed without using your data bandwidth :xThumb:... it's called Go Binge*

*just read the small print, apparently it does eat into your Feel At Home allowance in Europe [but not in the rest of the world]

So not much help really - soz :xdoh:

Can you actually get a 4g signal from 3 where the mh is parked

hard to find anything worth watching on Netfli

I guess that depends on what you like to watch, I love the Scandi Noir genre and there's quite a lot of those on Netflix these might not suit everyone as they are generally foreign language with subtitles though having said that there is a languages option in Netflix so some may be available dubbed into English. Try doing a search on google for best "your favourite genre" on Netflix and see what suggestions come up, it's what I did and found loads.

As mentioned above, video burns through a lot of data. You need a fast connection (which isn't always the case in Europe with Three) and you'll use a lot of your allowance very quickly.

We are using an Amazon firestick for the first time in Spain this year, and using site WiFi or a MiFi have watched Netflix and catch up tv. You have to use a vpn for catch up, but not Netflix. No need for vpn if using MiFi. We have both voda Phone & 3 & use whichever is available, although have larger allowance on Vodafone, as 3 only allow 15gb abroad per month. It does use a lot of data - about 1.5GB per hour, and a bit more for iPlayer (thanks BBC!). To answer the OP if only in uk connect tv, or laptop or firestick to 3 MiFi and sign in to Netflix- should be all that’s needed.

You can get UK T V on line in Europe from Film on TV for about £15 a month..Bit heavy on your 3 Data but if used sparingly very good.BUSBY.

We use Netflix a lot here in Portugal. We always find a film to watch. Some of the Spanish stuff is really funny and keeps you concentrating having to read the subtitles.

Watch Toc Toc if you can, really funny.

We're in a house at the moment and have Internet through landline but only about 2.5mbps, so it can be watched with limited signal.

We've just come back from a house sit further north in portugal and used our Vodafone mifi, and through the thick granite walls it only managed about 1.5-2mbps and still managed to watch films no problem but as said we could use around 1-2gb per night depending on film.
Brought a data sim, Vodafone,15days 30gb.

Of topic a bit but another funny ,well we thought it was, film was the sausage party. Very rude and lots if innuendos.

Just had to comment. Some of the scandi stuff is the highest quality tv available. Far prefer their version of the dragn series, the bridge, wallander etc. I am desperately searching for Arne dahl from series 1 as saw series 3 (i think) and that was top notch. Couple of icelandic ones have been good as well. Theres a couple of frog ones both entitled by the lake, one set at st croix and one at Annecy (in winter though) well worthy of a watch

Allan we use Netflix and normally download when we have a good wifi watch that lot then download more, saves any buffering or dropping out.

Now the instructions for downloading more than one film at once must be on page two and I have not mastered page one yet.

I know how long it took you to get search for sites to work so no doubt by the time you work it out the film will be a few years old :):)

Allan as far as I remember you just got to film or series and press download, should be same for all the available films

Just downloading some now.......

Just back from Bruges and watched a couple of Netflix films on our TV using my iPhone on 3 as a hotspot without issue. You will only ever get 3G signal on 3 when roaming I think.

Not necessarily - Netflix has two helpful settings. Either choose LQ which streams at about 0.3GB/hour or a Mobile Data Saver setting which allows you to watch about 6 hours of programmes for 1GB.
I am desperately searching for Arne dahl from series 1
It's on Piratebay... I can help if you get stuck :xwink:.
