We have decided we need a new table for our new rapido motorhome as the one it comes with is massive and takes up a lot of space. it is used for the bed but that will never be made up so not needed, i have got a quote from a dealer to replace it with a table from the rapido i90 distinction but that is never going to happen at £1500 (ouch). I have seen one on ebay but it is in Newark and it is collection only so thats out as it is a 380 mile round trip for us. So anyone know of any companies that will make one up to the size and more importantly the colour we want, i have called rainbowcoversions and they are sending me through some samples but it does not look as though they have the colour we need which is a darkish oak (shannon oak to be precise if going on rapido naming).
I am not up to making one myself as i am uselss at DIY so would need to pay someone, i think all i need is the top as i am sure i can just use the existing bracket and legs from the existing one as there are only 8 screws holding the top inplace by the looks of it, i dont think that is the issue just the size of the actual table.

i have gone through some previous posts and seen some suggestions of people with swing arm tables but we want it fixed so of no use to us.

Any thoughts!

Try O'Learys or Rainbow conversions. I should think not much more than £100.00 should do the job

We had the same issue with our Hymer B544 and looked for a company that may make us one.
As a temporary measure and to gauge what size would be needed I made one out of a £5 piece of 20mm MDF and we covered it with PVC table cloth material from The Range for £7, enough for four table cloths.
Anyway, it's been like that ever since and now I can see reason to change it.

Certainly food for thought if i can't find anything just never been good at DIY so i usually leave to the experts although sometimes they are hard to find.

If you visit South Wales there is a guy who is happy to work on motorhomes, by trade he has a furniture making business but he likes all jobs.

He's in Blaenavon and you can wild camp close by.

I bought a new table top on ebay and did it my self taking the original of, and putting away wrapped up in case i ever sell van, it can be put back, job cost was sixty pounds

table can still be moved to any position using original fittings.

Very useful thanks for the information.

I have hd a quick look on ebay but it is hard to see the colours when not in person, the size would be ok but if i get the wrong colour my wife would not be happy which is worse than having the big table :)

I've not got around to using them yet, but this firm seems very useful.

https://www.cutwrights.com/new/home

They're about 15mins from the end of the M3. If they can't get the exact match surface, then there is

https://www.cbjltd.co.uk/

or

https://www.stantonsuk.co.uk/

who have samples of almost every laminate known to man.

Best of luck

Malcolm
Thanks for the info, the one at the end of the m3 is not far from us which makes them ideal if they can do it, i will give them a call and see what they say.

Why not just cut the one you have to size if it's not going to be used for anything else, then just the finish the edges, just a thought.

You should do as KEVAN wrap it up and put it in the loft ,if you sell, the buyer may want a new original top.If you save it ,you could still use the fittings and use them again if you change back.lol

In that case I wouldn't worry about matching existing, just get something that's practical for you and re use the leg, then when you sell the van you haven't wasted silly amounts of money.

I am not looking for an exact match but it will need to blend in if you know what i mean, well to be fair if it were me i wouldn't care but my wife on the other hand is a different matter.

my wife is in charge of the colour, i just need to find somewhere that can assist, i have a few places i can try now and no matter what they will all be cheaper than the dealer by a long shot.

The one that came with the van is a folding table which i think we will need even if we change it just smaller. Even when in half it is massive which i know why they have done it but for us it is wasted space.

The best one out of 4 we've had made was from clearcut conversions in barnstable, they make the exact size you want & you have a good choice of colours, lightweight as well.

Hi @zac hope you'll let us know what you go for. I'd like to change our table too but not sure what or how.

i sure will

Was this a folding one or do you know if they make folding ones?

Most new tables for motorhomes are hollow with just a frame and two layers of thin plywood, to keep the weight down.. Laptops go straight through them when they fall out of the top cupboard. (not mine)
My ML I 's table too high for me and t'other'arf so I am going t reduce the height by 1 1/2 " just enough to get my arms over the top and eat. big disadvantage being small you know.. I shall de-weld the base frame and re-weld it after removing the requisite amount.. I also use it to climb into bed so it can't be too low.
