Hi boys n girls our Dometic RMS8501 fridge won’t switch off. This means it intermittently drains the leisure battery. Has anybody found someone who can fix the pcb or supply me with a new one?

Cheers! Russ

Geoff thanks for your help! I have managed to source one of these from Leisure Spares in Ripon 01423 320009
They only had one in stock but said they were starting to be "drip fed" spare parts from Dometic in Germany. So if your stuck for this component maybe this is a good place to start. I tried Apuljack and was told that they don't repair control panels, you were the second person to point me in their direction, in fairness I couldn't get past the receptionist who answered the phone, so maybe they do fix them but she doesn't know? Any way thanks very much for your help!!

Cheers!

Have you tried disconnecting your leisure battery for 15 mins or so and the reconnecting to see if it affects the PCB on the fridge and resets it?
Before you spend on a new one. (y)

I tried that but it only worked once and then back to it's iritating ways again.

Thanks Russ

Have you tried a panel control company, I know someone who had his fixed by a company that did panels for the waterboard. Sorry no idea who they was though.

I tried all sorts of PCB repair companies but couldn't find anyone willing to look at it, very disappointing!

I guess it’s out of their comfort zone and if they are earning ok with what they are doing no need to try anything else. I guess he was lucky or got them on a good day

I gave Leisure spares £226.57 incl VAT & Postage for the new unit, I guess it's better that £1200 for a new fridge! Looking at the old board there's probably about £3 worth of bits on it. I suppose I should just take being reamed out as an occupational hazard of having a fridge in a motorhome!!

£226.57 is a small price to pay for cold beer & wine and a happy SWMBO. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

RustyRuss Hello Russ , did you ask Aplujack about control panel (with on off button etc) or PCB repair as that may have caused a mis-understanding ?

Hi Geoff,
I’m fairly sure I asked for control panel repair. Surely they should know that the control panel is a PCB?

Thanks Russ ,Yes I think you would be correct , as you said , perhaps the person who answered your call did not understand. I have sent them an email asking about this as their website states that they repair leisure fridge PCBs and I do not want to suggest trying them if this is not so. {although I have used them for other electronic items in the past and they have been very good).
Anyway , enjoy your , soon to be , cool beer and wine.

Looking forward to Southern France in late June with some nice cold beer, also Anglesey this Easter, Beer is always best chilled! Just like me an SHMBO! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Mine has a Dometic RMM 8505 fridge freezer and I renewed mine in less than 30min. The panel was sourced on ebay.

Did the new control panel fix your dometic fridge issue?

Haven’t had the opportunity to fit it yet but can’t see why it won’t. Fitting it on Saturday I hope!

Confusion may be the reason for Apuljac saying no. Say control panel and it usually applies to the screen by the door controlling the electrical systems in the van. Fridge PCB would be the name to use

I think I might get it repaired then and offer it for sale on here for what it cost me to get it fixed plus any carriage charges. How does that sound people?

Cheers!

Russ

RustyRuss hope the new PCB fixes everything and, just to confirm , I have been in touch with Apuljack and they have told me that they do not repair any leisure vehicle fridge PCBs (as I thought they did) at this time, but hope to sometime in the future.
They might start start doing repairs if they have enough enquiries. (y)

Yes! It seems to have done the job, thanks Jimbo.
It doesn’t seem to fit very well, there is a latch type of catch on the bottom of the housing that may need some fettling with a file, but I’ll worry about that when we’re in it next weekend.
