Looking for a neat USB charging hub for multiple devices, so 3-4 USB sockets would be ideal. Needs to be a 12v feed rather than 230v. The only ones i'm finding tend to be for cars and have lots of curly-stretchy and untidy cables. Looking for one for the bedroom area and one for the dining area.

Thanks

There are various multi socket panels available on eBay, most show one unit with a dual USB and others 12v cigarette type, digital volt meter, switch etc. but there is no reason why you couldn't swap one of the 'others' for another dual USB thus giving four USB in one location. From what I have seen the permutations are almost endless.
Or simply mount two dual USB versions side by side in a convenient panel of your vehicle, common their +ve & -ve connections and feed them from a separate fuse in your 12v distribution.

Edited as I have now seen your reply above. To derive USB voltage from 12v you need the components inside the sockets so incur the depth of the units. That being so you will need some type of small enclosure to mount them in or construct and wire your own USB socket arrangement with the necessary electronics to convert 12v to 5v into the smallest enclosure that is feasible. I would think the time and cost of that is prohibitive unless you are an electronics geek and just want a challenge!

Ok, I fitted two, one on the dash for the camera and rear camera and another next to the bed.

Looking for a non installed version so i can move it around as we have plenty of 12v sockets already installed.
I think they're usually poor quality. I'd be inclined to make something with these good quality aluminium ones:

I use these... (A*a*on)

Sabrent 4-Port USB 2.0 Data Hub with Individual LED lit Power Switches [Charging NOT supported] for Mac & PC (HB-UMLS)

although it says "Charging Not Supported" I have had no problem charging phones, tablets, router, e-cigs, etc from them for well over a year.

They also do a powered version, if you don't want to risk it, or need more power.

Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Individual LED Lit Power Switches, Included 5V/2.5A Power Adapter (HB-UMP3)

or on Ebay

plug into a 5v fixed socket, or Laptop USB socket.

Are you saying you want ones that plug into 12V cigarette-lighter type sockets? Something like this would do
Amazon product ASIN B0927TBPR7Best to get something that is at least QC3.0, some of them are not very powerful. QC3 is a lot better than the '2.1A' or '2.4A' USB types.

If you have plenty of 12v sockets i would change most of them to fixedd usb everything is becoming usb chargeable nowdays
Other than the telly we dont need any 12v plugs

That’s a good idea, never occurred to me. Next task for the list !

Can you fast charge via USB??. With the uptake of fast charge phones I would prefer a fast charge adapter that plugs into cigarette style socket.
We use two Samsung adaptive fast chargers which both take two USB cables so two phones charge at same time.
One charger even has a "Super Fast Charge" connection.

Yes, but you have to buy the right type. Most of the types on the market are standard USB, 5V with a maximum current of 2.1A or 2.4A. The 'fast' and 'super-fast' chargers don't work like that.

A USB plug has 4 pins - 2 power and 2 data. The fast chargers use the data lines to communicate with the device. If the device responds correctly, it will increase the voltage to 9V or 12V, and will also increase the current, to allow fast charging. A standard device that doesn't respond just gets the standard 5V, so everything is backwards-compatible.

You can recognise fast chargers because they will be labelled QuickCharge 3 (QC3). Look for QC3 adaptors or QC3 USB sockets, they do exist and are getting easier to find.

Those sockets are the rectangular 'Type A'. If you want to go to USB-C, which are thin with rounded ends, then there's a whole other level. USB-C with PD (Power Delivery) will increase voltage to 12V, 15V or even 20V if the device requests it. They can supply up to 100W, which is enough to charge a laptop. But if you plug in a standard USB device, it will still get what it wants, ie 5V at up to 2.4A.
