5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
I had a red light on when I tested one hook up outlet on this site but another was all green. Have I saved my electrical system from a shunting (either reverse live neutral or earth live reverse cant remember which) . would my German shaunt (sp) system coped with this ??

Not at all unusual in France as it's immaterial which the line and neutral are connected to out here (apart from the earth!). Modern appliances have double-pole switching, so will cut the live when switched off whichever way it is wired. Reverse polarity shouldn't be a safety issue unless you dismantle a connected appliance and start poking around inside :)

ps I'm NOT an electrician :D

I like to bet 100s before you hooked up to it and live to tell the tale

live neutral wire reversal won’t do any damage to your appliances as it’s ac.
But it could mean you might have live through your gear if the switch is single pole on the live wire only, also the fuse won’t protect against shock if there’s a fault to earth.
I’ve got a polarity tester in the van but forget it’s there all the time!
