Would anyone like to recommend which out of the following motorhomes they would consider a favourite out of the Adria Matrix 590, Chausson 520, welcome 530 and the benimar Tesoro 481.

Looking at purchasing my first motorhome and the only knowledge I have is through research.

Any comments welcome

Thank you

Greetings peeps welcome from West Kent.
I wish you luck with your search

The best advice we can give, having owned eight motorhomes over a period of almost forty years, is layout is all.

However luxurious, however expensive, if the layout is wrong you will not be happy.

BTW we did not change m/h’s because we got so many things wrong. That’s another story! ;)

Layout is the most important thing to consider. Everybody has different requirements so you have to decide whats important to everyone who will be using it.
e.g. we prefer to shower in our van but some people are happy to use campsite showers all the time, we wanted a proper oven - some people are happy with a hob and microwave/other types of cooking aid like a slow cooker
Good luck with your search. It's exciting.

I back that up , you really need to get the layout correct , when we buying our first van we did loads of visits to shows and dealers before we found the one for us , and I have not found one better for 20 years and currently just bought a new one with that layout

Hi & :welcome4:

Research is vitally important to try and ensure you get it right first time. As you're no doubt aware there's a huge choice out there but you've taken a good step by joining here. First off you need to get hod of a copy of Jim's excellent publication "Buying a Motorhome", free to full members from the Resources section (dark blue line at the top of the page). I don't know how extensive your research has been but you've hit on several vehicles - what has attracted you to them? As already said, layout is the biggest thing because if you don't get it right it will annoy you for evermore, maybe cost you a lot of cash and even can put you off the life for ever.

Decide what it is YOU want out of it. How will you use it and how often, how many people will you normally carry, where are you going to park it when not in use? Does your driving licence cover you for vehicles over 3500kg, in case you need to look at something maybe a bit bigger or with more room. There is no single answer to your question, everybody is different and of course "their" van is perfect.

But the only real way is to go out and have a good look at as many different vans as you can. Sit in them, imagine it's pouring with rain. "Cook" a meal, "use" the loo/shower, try out the beds. Is there enough space (and payload) for whatever you feel you must carry with you? Don't fixate on the first bright shiny van you see and never, ever put your whole pot into the purchase as unless you buy new it's inevitable that there'll be some expense, either for extras or unforseen problems (heaven forbid but it happens). Hopefully we should start to see the dealers opening up very soon so have a day out visiting some of them - but leave your credit card at home!

No doubt there will be replies offering opinions on your choices but in the end you've got to decide for yourself. I would suggest you do a little more research and once you think you're down to an "ideal" van come back on here. In the meantime have you ever actually used a motorhome of any description before? It is often a good idea if you can to hire something similar to what you think you want for a few days - some dealers offer a try before you buy hire scheme. We saved ourselves froma potentially expensive mistake by hiring - but then proved our final choice was correct and still is 11 years later.

Good luck!
