I think it’s died.

I have been using a 45w mag adapter instead of a 60w.

Now the green light on the MagSafe just flashes green.

I’ve been thinking about a replacement MacBook anyway!.

Any suggestions on spec please ?

Cheap chrome book, android tablet or a pc lappy. All available for less than £300.

I was thinking of sticking with Mac

No problem but if you have been ok with a much older machine you obviously aren't a power user.
Which is why I suggested a much cheaper alternative to say a MacBook Pro. But it's your money.:xgrin:

My youngest (30) is looking at a 2015 macbook pro, but she works as a photographer and needs the power for photo-retouching. The price is making her cry though around £1200.

Battery is probably goosed.. not difficult to replace.. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2009+Battery+Replacement/1332

new battery £40 - £60

but if your looking for an excuse for a new one.. forget this .. :xwink:

as for spec..

My Late 2014 MacBook Pro is i5 2.6 Ghz

16GB memory.. with a 250GB SSD

as the RAM is not user upgradable, buy as much as you can afford

mine is more than adequate for photo and video editing

You could of course buy a £300 laptop, with that horrible W10 , and do that every year .. after 4 years you would have paid for Mac Pro

And us windows users get accused of running down mac's. So I give a sensible reply, without I think running down Mac's, does a Mac user do the same, no chance.:xrofl:
If windows machines are so crap, why do Mac's use many of the same components?

It says mid 2009. But the DVD reader inside says manufactured 2010.

It does not Like sites with lost of advertisements (news sites Link Removed etc).

sounds more like a browser problem.. maybe you need to use an ad blocker?

If using Safari clean out the cookies, cache and history.. close it down and re-start

or try Opera.. I've been trying it out recently, it's very good, faster than Safari and comes with a built in ad-blocker.. and an optional VPN

If it was my choice she would buy a windows lappy brand new for £1200 that would do everything a brand new £2100 MacBook Pro will do.
Unfortunately some of the Photoshop shortcuts are different, and that's what is mainly used in industry, so she wants to stay with a overpriced mac.

Interesting john Lewis and others are flogging brand new 13" macbook pro's for around £1200, new 2018 are over £1600
