One of the pins securing the arms has broken on ours, I think I can fix it at home but if I can't is it much of a job to fit a complete new vent?

Just fitting the topmost part is easy. If you want to replace the whole unit, i.e the part that's sealed in your roof that's a bit more tricky.

It's the bit in the roof, this has the pins the vent swivels on.

I think with MPKs, the hinge pin is a completely separate piece of plastic. You might be able to find a replacement for just the pin.

If it's the flanges that the pin goes through on the lower frame that have broken, you may have to replace the unit. It's not a technically hard job, but it does involve stripping off old sealant and gluing the new frame in place without getting everything covered in the gunk. I did two 400mm MPKs a couple of months ago myself, they were about £100 each.

not a difficult job just screws and mastic i think you can get spares but mpks are so cheap about £50 or you could upgrade it to a heiki for about £100 which comes with blackout and mozi net, just be aware the internal blind cassette is slightly bigger than the mk

Many thanks. It is a whole unit job as the pins are part of the surround. However, I reckon I can drill through the broken pin and use a 5mm bolt and some adhesive. Worth a try anyway, if it doesn't work it'll be a new unit.

Job done, only took 20 minutes. A 4mm bolt, washers and a locknut.
