Morning all,

Has anyone been to Chatel? Was the approach to the resort motorhome friendly (switch backs) and would you recommend camping L'Oustalet. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you.

I have been up to Chatel in a full-sized bus , being transferred from Lyon airport, years ago but if that can do it so can a MH.

As an aside, I nearly cancelled, because when we left London there was no snow in Chatel, nor on the transfer, but I had phoned the Met man at Heathrow and given him the exact location, which he said would have heavy snowfall at 0300 next morning. I got up for a P at 0400 and it was snowing and by morning there was 6":giggle:

I hope you get snow, it is quite low. You can ski into Switzerland for lunch - no border checks.

Thanks for the reply. Stayed in L,Escale (Grand Bornand) last New year, arrived just after their first significant snow fall. It's always a risk that early, but will need to book to secure from limited availability .

We go to Les Deux Alpes and stay at Camping Champ du Moulin near Venosc. The roads are fine and it’s a great campsite with a short walk to the gondola. It’s very snowsure as it’s a glacier resort .

Hi,

I believe we may have been there at the same time last year (Easter 2024) From memory the whole resort was shut down for 5 days due to high winds. We won't chance that again. Grand Bornand was excellent for location and the snow fine over New year, just looking to try another resort that equals Grand Bornand but slightly higher and more snow sure but still motorhome friendly.
