Hi all,
I decided to fit a microwave into one of the cupboards of my MH. Went to Argos and bought a Cookworks 17 litre Broken Link Removed. £55.
On the installation page of the instruction manual, it says THIS MICROWAVE IS DESIGNED TO BE FREE STANDING AND IS NOT INTENDED TO BE USED BUILT IN OR IN A CABINET.
Have I made a mistake thinking I can fit this into my Renault Elddis Eclipse MH.
Please help.

Take it back and find one that is designed to be used in a cabinet - or do as we do and use a fan to keep plenty of air cooling around it.

Microwave which has been built in by the manufacturer, Russell Hobbs, in my van seems to be a standard domestic model. The manual carries similar warnings for freestanding use. Also has somewhere minimum clearances from other items such as walls when on a counter top.

The cabinet housing in my van is well ventilated. It's at high level so there are grilles on the underside and also in fascia plate surround on the front above and below the microwave. The back of the cabinet housing is also open to the side wall of the van so some air would move through the housing.

Just ensure plenty of air gap around the microwave. Worst case fit a computer fan behind it. For £55 you aren't going to break the bank. Just make sure it works with your inverter first before you "build" it in as some don't .

We only use ours on EHU :)

As long as you have a couple.inch clearance all round you'll be fine

My Autotrail fitted microwave chucked the towel in and I got a Panasonic jobbie from Currys and that was 5 years ago. As said above as long as you have clearance and ventilation around it then you shouldn't have any problems.

I fitted a 'freestanding' Russell Hobbs small microwave into my Carthago. There is a fairish air gap at the back behind the drawer that sits above and I additionally fitted a louvred grill on the side to prove additional ventilation. Not had any issues over the past year on either EHU or inverter. It is only a nominal 600W one.

We have a cheapie in our kitchen at home which I built into a unit, been going fine for years with space at the back into upper and lower shelves for ventilation.

All microwaves request room around them, but the truth is that most people shove them in corners, stack shite beside them, and all over the top anyway. I wouldn’t worry about what you are wanting to do.

And have it converted to lower power if you can, just adds a few seconds to cooking time but won't kill your batteries. It cost us £50 to have our cheapy microwave to be converted by a company in Kent, near Ashford.

Thank you everyone, job sorted, my wife is coeliac, so a lot of her food is microwaved to stop any contamination with gluten.
Best regards,
Terry
