fiat ducato
Hi all, have a fiat ducato motor home 2002 38000miles with a fuel pump sender unit problem, replaced it with a new one from main dealer does not fit even tho fiat insists it is the right one! Ive now been told that when they put the body on the motor home they put a smaller tank in because of the weight! my question is how do I find out what tank is on my van ,the body is Mobilvetta Icaro P6.Any help would be appreciated as van stuck in Weymouth

Strange, our 2001 Hymer has the original fiat fuel tank , I wouldn’t have thought a converter would fit a different tank.

Rather than find out what tank you have it would be better to identify the sender. Does it have any identifying numbers?
Presumably you have the old one out which you could compare visually with possible replacements or via a 'Google Images' search?
Or maybe put a photo of it on here on the odd chance that someone will recognise it.

is it an x230 or x244 chassis, are main dealers just going on the 2002 year instead of chassis number, chassis could be a fair bit older

Is idtd or jtd, as the first doesn’t have a lift pump and the later would.

Do any of these match your sender?

There's also a special fitting tool advertised in various places.

There's this Youtube video about how difficult it is and shows how to fit one (if it's the same as yours).

AFAIK due to weight issues they limit the amount of fuel you can put in the tank in order to reduce the weight, so a 90 litre tank is standard but by modifiying the vent it is limited to 60litres. There is a bodge available to allow more than 60 litres to be added.
