So. "Toad", (54 plate Punto) sadly failed MOT. Looking at replacements. One of the contenders is from the P107/C1/Aygo ranges. with the Semi-Auto gearbox. It will be, as all mine are, "A" framed.

Initial Browsing of "Flea bay" to get an idea of what might be available brought up this:- http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=143597257829

That looks a Bargain?. 14 plate (allegedly). Low Mileage (allegedly). BUT, read the blurb?. To me it flags up several issues. Not least the fact that it will be almost impossible to check it's "Bonofides"?. Jersey/Guernsey Plate. BUT stated by Vendor to be from Ireland? (might be a mistype?).

Am I exhibiting Paranoia Here?.

No I am with you there. Anything that is good value and unusual circumstances I steer clear of.

No log book, I would run a mile. A decent seller would have taken care of the paperwork beforehand. Plenty of other cars out there. Can you tow an auto or Semi?

"Car come from Ireland" With Jersey Plates? That's not a mistype. A Cap. was used. That is not the case with 'island'.

You do not have paranoia. You have a fine nasal capacity for smelling a rat.

IIRC without being registered in UK how does it get UK MOT (10 months) ?

Pidgeon English, does 'Ireland' mean 'Island'? as in Jersey. I would be wary.

Getting an MOT is part of the import process.
MOT's (or 12 month inspections) do not exist on Jersey, so worth checking over carefully.

The OP should also check the VAT status as it is likely the VAT needs paying....

If I bought a UK registered car and brought it back to the IOM, I have to have it tested here, irrespective of how long the UK MOT is, and re registered here. The same goes if I sold a Manx registered car in the UK it would have to be tested and then re registered there. I think this is similar with CI registered cars. So it could be MOT'd.

You can but you need to be certain it's in Neutral.

Sounds iffy to me, way to cheap and as stated wording seems odd.

They don't have an MOT in Jersey. ?
He has made it easy to take some money off you, he put his phone number. ? Bob.

I did Wonder. Not that I am in a position to pursue it, during the current period. I was more doing some research, on what might be available. ???

I don't useuly bother about grammar and spelling on a forum like this, but an eBay advert with all those mistakes means I wouldn't touch it, if anyone is advertising something it's quite easy to get it right even if it means getting someone else to read it.
I am not judging but try reading it phonetically, and see what it sounds like. :Eeek:

Big 100% feedback on EBay which looks great until you realise that it is all as a buyer, not a seller. Looking at it he is probably a car bodger buying used bits from breakers and doing cars up.

The guy can't spell for toffee ....the entire add is miss pelt
He isnt selling it without the logbook hes just explained the logbook has been delayed

Technically no one should be travelling to buy it during lockdown anyway so I don't think it's a scam just someone who can't spell looking to perhaps secure a sale pending arrival of documents
