Well the new van we waited a year for and has done 200 miles is going to sit there for the next 3 to 4 months, I’m pretty fit exercise, don’t smoke, don’t drink and a veggie all in all healthy.
Got a few left shoulder pains when pushing hard on my bike or hiking up a steep hill nothing much, had an angiogram yesterday and they’ve kept me in need an urgent triple/ quadruple bypass I’m still in shock.
Just goes to show eat, smoke, drink and be a couch spud because it makes no difference in the end.
The morale is do what you want and have what you want.
Just sat here now waiting for an op space.
If you ever get anything no mater how small get it checked apparently I’m lucky to be alive and only 55.
Thanks

Take care, you'll get sorted soon and all will be well.
Only delay will be telling dvla and getting your consultant to confirm your capability to drive.
Hope all goes well for you.

My wife said something similar to her consultant when she was diagnosed with lymphoma.
But, how she dealt with the treatment and her recovery was directly affected and positively by the fact that she was fit and exercised regularly.

Glad they've picked it up and are doing something so soon - my friends hubby waited almost 2 years and has only recently been treated. He'd never been over the top with stuff and was quite fit, jetskiing etc.

Despite being told originally he'd need a bypass the consultant opted for stents in the end.

I don't know your situation but have you a partner who might consider getting behind the wheel so you could get away afterwards?

Hope everything goes smoothly for you and that you are soon out & about (y)

Hope the op goes well, I think your overall fitness will make a huge difference to your recovery.

My mum wasn’t much older than you when she had a quadruple heart bypass in the late 1980s and recovered from it really quickly and it was life changing in terms of her health.

Good to have it picked up quickly and thevop sorted. Your van travels can wait a while longer.
Just think of all the stories you can tell when your up and running, should be worth a few beers.
Best of luck with the OP and the recuperation. (y)

Glad you are diagnosed before anything bad happened as you just don’t know how healthy you are until your not☹️

As you say you never know, I was fit and ended up having a blood clot that was misdiagnosed by my doctor until it went in my lung and stopped me breathing!!
Luckily the local hospital are brilliant.

Good luck 🤞

We wish you the very best with your op and recovery. The only advice I can offer is to relax and accept the things that need to happen to save your life. The stress of worrying will do you no good and can be awful to a relationship. Spend the time and energy on putting together a wishlist of places to visit when you are well again. It may seem an eternity away at this stage but time swiftly passes

Bad news but thankfully they found you had a problem and they will soon sort you out. Good luck and I hope your soon out and about in your new Motorhome.

And the good news is……..

……..the problem has been spotted and will be corrected.(y)

Following your recovery period there will be no stopping you and you will appreciate your new found freedom all the more.

Best wishes.

thank goodness you got checked out before............................well,.don't need to say it do i..

and thankfully they're on to it straight away too so once it's all done you'll be back on the road to total fitness and no doubt feeling fitter than you did before..

i too had no idea that i had a heart problem either, last summer when got whipped off to hospital on a probably non related problem where it was discovered, given masses of meds for all eventualities for a few months and just before christmas had a couple of stents popped in so am still here and looking forward to getting fitter again and out and about, not bad for an old biddy almost past the sell by date..

start planning for when it's over and done because it won't be too long before you'll be off in that van of yours and having adventures and building up memories once again..(y)

.

Wish you all the best, hope all goes well so you can look forward to enjoying your MHOME again.

So here is the positive spin...
Had my heart attack in 2014 aged 54 while in bed. Reasonable fitness, no stress really as I retired at 47. Bypass in March 2015..

After the 6 weeks non driving period I was off and at the first fun rally at Thetford 👍 2 months later driving to Spain. Never looked back, except in the mirror 🤣

Quite a few of us have been through the bypass operation. Yes, it's a big shock but things WILL improve. As big an operation that it is, it's almost routine to those talented guys.

Need to chat just send me a pm / conversation.. 👍👍

Unless other reasons.
Bypass is not notifiable to DVLA. Usually just a 6 week no driving restriction by the surgeon. I was told to tell insurance BUT they weren't interested.

I know how you feel. I ran an activity company, took mountain bike groups out, ran 3 times a week and dived regularly, gave up smoking 25 years ago, weighed 79kg. Had a heart attack while reading the Sunday paper! I did feel a lot of "why me??" at first, but hey ho,it could be worse.

Similar thing happened to me, not over weight or any other signs apart from what I thought was back pain. Was in shock, as were my family. (found out, all of my ancestors on my mums side died of heart attacks) Thinking of you. You are in the best place. The NHS are amazing (y)Edited to say every time Steve tells someone, Gina has a stent, people always say "No, she looks too young" (y) :giggle:

Jako. you never know...... I had the normal 'Poo' test 3 yrs ago.... had Bowel cancer, but, was given Chemo, then Radio, then Radio with Chemo...all was well, then it returned, so Bowel Op, all o.k. then back in left lung..... all o.k. then in right Lung, but Liver as well...... waiting for Liver Op, but, honestly we are in the best country to be poorly, our surgeons are the best!!! Tomorrow, we are off to France for a short break and we will come back and face the music !!!!! My S.I.L. died at 34...... just keep going and live for the day.... and yes, we all have that feeling...... getting cross when there is no need, but, be grateful for what we can do with today's doctors ( don't mean G.P.'s)

Wow you were lucky to have it spotted,if youd have just carried on and not known youhad a dodgy ticker the outcome would have been unthinkable.
good luck
