Bit of a trip down memory lane today, or should that be memory river
This is the Augsburg canoe slalom course built for the Olympics in 1972, I have been down the course in a C2, that’s a Double Canadian, a bit like a tandem version of the one in the above photo as that is a C1, I will add it was a lot of years ago and I was much younger and quite possibly dafter.
I didn’t say I paddled down though as we spent more time swimming
So these two photos are kayaks, double ended paddle as opposed to single for the Canadian C1 and the big difference is that in a Kayak you are sitting but in thh Canadien you are actually kneeling which gives you much greater reach but more difficult to balance,
This was just a training/practice session for an international event next weekend.
