Sad news. He was my first pop idol, and my first attempt at knitting at 11!

Memories - big time! I was 16 year old in hospital when the Monkees hit the TV screens in 1966/67 and their mad antics never failed to cheer me up when I watched them on the B&W TV my Mum had brought in to my room in the isolation ward. Not only did I enjoy the program and the music, but so did the nurses who always seemed to find an excuse to come in as well. One of the happier memories of my 9 months in hospital. RIP Mike Nesmith; legend.

Used to watch the TV series, cant remember what time it was on, but it needed negotiation with parents to watch - I think it clashed with dinner (evening meal!!) time.
Still got their first (only?) LP.

His solo stuff was excellent. Less keen on most of the Monkees stuff tbh, although I do have a clear memory of seeing Tim Buckley as a guest on the TV show.

IIRC Nesmith always considered himself a "real" musician and rather resented his success as just one of the "Monkees"
