I take about 8 magazines a month, Rugby, Writing, Photography and of course Motorhomes. Being away from home for a year has meant that all of them are now digital editions. Ive got used to this and will probably never buy a paper magazine again.

MMM just sent me this email which has a free digital edition, try it, you might like it.

Hello Jim,

I hope you are well. Please find press release below and front cover attached with details of the brand new 130-page MMM digital sample issue, which can be downloaded for free. I thought this would be of interest to your forum members.
For immediate release 11th December 2017

MMM launches a FREE 130-page sample digital issue

MMM, The Motorhomers’ Magazine, has launched a 130-page sample issue of its digital magazine for readers to try for free.

MMM is the country’s best-selling motorhome magazine and it has been for over 52 years. During this time the magazine has brought readers the most inspirational travel, the best expert technical advice, the most in-depth reviews, the latest news and much more.

The first digital issue of MMM was launched in April 2011 and since then the growth in sales of the digital version of the magazine has been phenomenal. The digital issue can be read by anyone with a PC, laptop, tablet or even smartphone and is especially popular with readers touring in their motorhomes.

Managing Editor of MMM, Daniel Attwood, commented: “The digital version of MMM magazine contains everything the paper version has and more – digital readers get picture galleries, active maps, videos, extra pages and active hyperlinks. And, best of all, it is cheaper than the paper version and can be read on your tablet, PC, laptop and even your smartphone – perfect for when you’re travelling in your motorhome.”

This free digital sample comes packed with wonderful travel features including Cornwall, Scotland, the Peak District, a tour for new motorhomers around southern England, plus a trip to the Spanish costas, truffle hunting in Italy and a musical tour of the USA.

There are also motorhome tests including of the Adria Coral and Auto-Trail V-Line campervan; plus loads of technical advice from towing with a motorhome to remapping a motorhome’s engine, plus buying advice on where best the best dog-friendly campsites are to reader-recommended places to stay.

For those new to paper-free reading, the free sample issue is a great opportunity for readers to try the digital version for free. Not only are digital copies and digital subscriptions cheaper than the print version but they also offer readers more for their money, as the interactive magazine features everything readers get in the print magazine plus extras like videos, photo galleries and website links that are just a click away.

Further information and a short video on the free digital issue of MMM can be found here - http://motorhome.ma/sample18

While readers can download the free digital issue of MMM here -https://pocketmags.com/mmm-magazine/mmm-free-sample-issue

Thanks Jim

I've just downloaded it and it looks pretty good (and certainly VFM :xgrin: ).

I used to really enjoy Andy Stotherts travel tales so I'm pleased to see that he has returned, as last time I bought MMM he was retiring. I shall look forward to reading this while we house-sit for my son this afternoon, rather than going out for lunch and a natter with an old friend (which was the plan until 9pm last night: don't you just love last-minute requests? xroll:)

Hate to be slightly negative but...

Just jumped through the hoops and (eventually) got the free sample on my phablet...

Started trying to read it... text doesn't fit the page... when trying to expand it by the usual method, the page jumps all over the place... and a notification bar appears in the centre of the screen...

Gave up after 5 minutes... quite probably operator error and will try again later but I am used to pressing "Download", opening the file and reading the content straight away with no palarva...

JJ

AFAIK it looks to me as if you can't 'download' it as you normally would, but in fact have to read it 'on line' ... I can't find a way of easily downloading it.

So that I could read my favourite mag when away on our longer trips I tried it the first time. Regret to say that I just couldn't get away with it, text too small even on a full-size laptop and unreadable on a tablet, although that may have been something to do with wrong prescription for my specs. And yet I manage a Kindle reader very well!

Yes it's a great idea and if it works for you, fine. But not for me I'm afraid, I'll just wait until I get home and catch up then.

text too small even on a full-size laptop and unreadable on a tablet,

I find that the other way around. Printed, the text is too small for my naked eye and I need reading glasses. But most every magazine reader allows you to zoom in on text making it comfortable reading without the glasses.

I am very interested to try this version out and see how prices compare. Have taken MMM for many years but recently cancelled my subscription as the magazine is bulky and keeping back copies just for the technical section, has become a chore. I have not yet looked at or downloaded the magazine but will certainly give this a go.

Having 'downloaded' the magazine onto windows 10, I find the text is easy to read using the wheel on my mouse to zoom to any size I need. The Index is hyperlinked making access to any item very simple. Better than I expected

I suspect a lot of people may have had trouble reading /scaling the digital version as they are trying to read it on line rather than flying what's recommended by the publishers of that version : download their free app first, then open and read the file via that app.

I get MMM through pocketmags. Get a email telling me it’s there to download, always before it goes in the shops. Press the button and there it is on my I pad ready to read, can zoom in to make writing bigger for my tired eyes, no storage problems and will keep all copies for info. Before I threw out hundreds of issues just because of no where to keep them. I also get some other mags from Zeno, same sort of thing, all online.

We have the paper one on subscriptoon but thinking whether its ita worth it especially as they are offering it cheap for new subscriptions really gets my back up when new ones get a better deal than existing customers (like the banks insurance etc)

I see that there is a nice article on towing and "A" frames with all the "facts" and legality of using them, that should be a nice read for some of you.

That's good news Paul (regarding the legal bit) as MMM usually tries to avoid things like legal payload debates, etc, when it attempts to peddle some dodgy van with an MTPLM of 3,500kg and a 6kg payload.

I won't be renewing my membership. It's just a mag for its sponsors IMO.

Footnote: I can't see the point in wasting money on stuff like MMM when the Fun Forum is only £15 a year and is a thousand times better.:xThumb:

Cheers,

Andrew

Only a £5 per annum saving over the print version so not enough to make me want to change.

It basically reminded me of why I stopped buying it years ago.
Pay a load of money to have shed loads of adverts, plus out of date or incorrect "information", plus stuff that you could read on the mmm website forum anyway.

The Internet and its online discussion and information resources has rendered all such magazines, newspapers and printed media defunct for me nowadays.

They won't 'offer' anything if you ring as they aren't interested, so you really just need to cancel it and start afresh, nothing to lose.

I’ve just downloaded the free sample, and have been surprised how easy it is to read on the iPad.

Might be tempted now....(which of course is exactly the:reel:)

There is a good article on fitting a fridge fan which updates the method from a few moths ago. Anyone who has this on their "things to do" list for next year would find it well worth downloading for the alone.
