Just received a Wahl kettle. Delighted. Just big enough to boil two mugs. 240v, 1000 w, so it is quick. Auto switch off when boiled.

Got it from 7dayshop on ebay. £15.99.

We've got a larger previous version of it.

Even though small I see this as a waste of space, you presumably also carry a kettle for the hob, why not always use that?

I think a small electric kettle is useful for whenever on EHU. They really don't take up much space. However if we had a PVC it might be a different thing but in our van we have the space available in a cupboard - we tend to keep it at the back as it doesn't get used very often.

The big advantage of the electric travel kettle is that there is no need to heat the hob when on short T&P break. We use tea towels to stop the hob rattling and must wait for it to cool down before we can continue our journey.
The original plan was to use electric when we had surplus solar. In practice thats most (usually all) of the time even in the UK.
If we stopped carrying one it would be the whistler as we could always use a saucepan if necessary.

I have a 1kw kampa kettle that I use on invertor.

How Can you use 240v electric kettle without an inverter?
1500W inverter Mrs Else needs to use her hairdryer. Its also big enough to use the microwave, we are self sufficient, our 1990 vintage Phillips 800W travel kettle is a very nice extra.

Gas is in limited supply and costs money. If I am paying for EHU, I am going to use it. En route stops, of course, we have to use gas - but as already mentioned that entails faff and cooling off.
P.s. We do not have a space problem.

Our 650w takes a while but it’s a free cuppa on solar and inverter....??
