I'll second that. Years ago there was a campsite with the plushest marble faced toilet block I've ever been in. It was an ASCI cheap site right on the riverside. We then followed the Tarn for a while. Did that a few years running. You can follow the D907 most of the way up the Gorges du Tarn. There's cheap riverside sites all the way up through. On the lower ones below Le Cresse you can watch the Griffin Vultures coming in to roost in evening.
Mike.
Don't forget the white water course at Millau, that's good for a couple of hours of fun in the sun.Done both but we used to always stop in that area for a while anyway as its well worth exploring. Tarn Gorges one way and some fantastic Kayaking and places to stay the other way. One of our favourite wild camping spots by the Tarn is not far from there. Lac de Pareloup is fantastic also if your into Kayaking, sailing etc.

If you're just going one way, there's no doubt in my mind.
Go over it, going south.
The views are stunning and the experience is well worth the toll fee.
If you can also do the return journey, go under.
Enjoy..
Yes class 2 is about €16Is there a toll to go over the Millau Bridge? I know the autoroute is free down there.
I have sailed under it in a canoe. Honestly, some of the things my wife has made me do. It nearly ruined my back for life but great view!
Went over it 1 week ago, cost was 16,90 if I remember correctlyIs there a toll to go over the Millau Bridge? I know the autoroute is free down there.

Class 3 is around €32 my mate got caught for that.Yes class 2 is about €16
It always amazed me how it was built, considering it has a gradient and a curve, they started the carrageway from each end and slowly slid it, until it met in the middle
We went under, to avoid the terror, so I'm keen to understand (i.e. be convinced 'cos I'm terrified) why it's not scary ....Have also done both and gone back to Millau a couple of times, note to those with height issues, it is not at all scary.
You don't need to go through the town, we never do.through Millau to avoid the tolls but do wonder about the 3.5 ton weight limit signs in the town.
Just as well.Don't forget that the architect of the bridge was British, Norman Foster.
French Structural Engineer, VERY clever man.British architect. Clever man.
We've meaI always enjoy the drive down the A75, going both over and through Millau, sometimes staying over. Millau to me is the start of Southern France where roof tiles are red and you can smell the dry warmth.
It may be a painful truth, but the French do know how to knock up a Leviathan out of steel. Le Eiffel tower ?? Twice the height of Blackpool tower a later and shallow copy. Canal Locks, a French invention, plenty more examples as well.Just as well.
If it was a French architect it wouldn’t still be there.
Not too obvious from the photos but the sides are built in such a way that your scary 'oh my God look at that drop' is obscured. I find staring ahead, probably best when driving is a big help too.We went under, to avoid the terror, so I'm keen to understand (i.e. be convinced 'cos I'm terrified) why it's not scary ....
That will wind Chris up.It may be a painful truth, but the French do know how to knock up a Leviathan out of steel. Le Eiffel tower ?? Twice the height of Blackpool tower a later and shallow copy. Canal Locks, a French invention, plenty more examples as well.
