Hi Everyone
I’m planning on buying an IQ sim for a month in France. Any suggestions for MiFi router that works
with these SIM cards in France, without messing with settings please ?
Thanks

Any mifi will work just fine, but you may, or may not need to set the APN on the mifi.
I find it's a bit hit and miss whether they find and set it themselves.
I use IQ and mine set it's self in a Netgear Nighthawk M1

Edit, in the event it doesn't work out of the box, someone on here will help you with it

i use a tp-link and a huawei with my IQ sim and both worked without changing anything.
I have been using it in Spain since beginning of jan with now probs.

Used in Huawei 5573 and Teltonika RUT240 with no problems and topping up data is really easy.

We use our IQ Go SIM card in a TP Link M7450. It has been excellent in the UK, France, Spain and Portugal.
The APN settings are automatically made.

We got a Huawei E5577 from IQ Go last year to replace an older mifi, absolutely no hassle, just put the sim in. And we were very happy with IQ Go’s service, amazingly flexible.

We too have IQ Go, previously with a Huawei mifi, now replaced with a TP Link. Both worked well streaming TV, and buying more data from IQ Go was simple. No setting up etc required, just put sim in and it works fine.

I don’t like the use it or lose it policy - seems unfair and expensive if buying smaller packages

I am now a few days in to using the IQ go data sim. I activated it by purchasing 100 gb data once in Spain so that could make use of full 30 days.
I stuck it in my Huawei mifi unit that I have had since 2016 and only used on one holiday with a 3 data sim in it.
Amazingly it just worked ! It is worth noting the number of the sim as you need it to view data usage. You also need access to the email you use to purchase it as they send a verification code to that which you also need to view usage.
In the few days of using it, it has moved seamlessly between Spain and Portugal.
This is what the data usage chart looks like. We have been using the mifi with a firestick on the TV as weather keeping us inside.

That's good to know that you can activate it outside the UK, most UK sims have to be activated in the UK.

Have a Netgear and tried all different Data sims, only one I had issues with was Smarty but the others have worked all over Europe.
Netgear will pull a good signal when mobiles will not have any service😁

Over the past month have been using an IQ Go 100gb sim in an Avtex AMR985 in Italy, Switzerland and France. Works great, and you can access iplayer, itvx etc without a vpn.

Recommended.

I use a TP Link M7350. Very easy to use, very small (so very portable) and, if the power runs out, you can put it on charge and use it from 1% while it's charging.

We usually take our 90 days EU allowance in 2 x 45 day trips, its a shame IQ Go dont do 15 day data bolt ons as well in addition to the 30 day one for more flexibility.

The IQ Go SIM is despatched already activated. Obviously, the 30-day usage period for data bundles starts when the bundle is purchased. Not clear when the pre-paid 12-month activation period for the SIM actually starts. Might be when the first data package is purchased, but I suspect more likely from the day of purchase/despatch of the SIM. Probably not worth bothering about, as only likely to make a couple of days difference in a year.

This is what the IQ website says:

IQ Go - Data SIM Customers

Your SIM will be activated by default, but will need to connect to the UK Mobile network for best results. We do not typically provision data bundles until you have received the SIM.

Not sure what they mean by “need to connect to the UIK Mobile network for best results”, but I did connect the day before departing on the Ferry to Spain just to be on the safe side.

Riverbankannie when you activated your new 100gb bundle in Spain was that the first time you had used the IQ sim or had you used it in the UK previously?

It was the first time. I bought the sim in uk and had it posted to home. Then I put it in the mifi without purchasing any data or turning it on.
In Spain, I went online and purchased a data bundle and set it to start the next day. The next day I turned on the mifi and set the firestick to pick up the mifi.
Currently happily watching the boat race on BBC and I don’t have a VPN on the firestick. Unfortunately Oxford ladies just lost 😞

That brilliant news about the sim that is.
