Well the current lockdown has been good for one thing, after four years of ownership I finally decided to try and get the built in tv working. If we wanted to watch tv we would stay at home instead of being out and about in the van but it gave me something to do. So now the tv works ok but there is a rotary switch that says play tv/dvds and the instruction manual gives the impression that we can play dvds through the radio. When I select dvd on the switch the tv screen says no input, so can dvds be played through the radio or do I need to fit a seperate dvd player?

Does the TV have a slot in the side at the back, if so then you load a dvd into the slot and it plays. Sounds like your TV needs to be switched to dvd to then view on the screen.

No it's just a small 10" flip down screen, the radio manual has a page on how to play a dvd but can't get it to work

Some pictures of the switches etc will help.. (y)
Plus knowing the year of your Autotrail.

Earlier Autotrails with flip down screens had the DVD player built into the head end unit (dash radio) and if your has that it will have a DVD logo on the radio itself. If it does then try putting in a DVD and see if it plays.

Thanks for your help, here are some pictures

It definitely says dvd player on the radio and as can be seen the tv side works fine but when I change the selector switch to dvd with a dvd in the radio the screen flashes no input and goes blank. I can get into the setup menu on the radio display but can't make any changes/selections as I can't see the menu on screen

It's a 2007 Miami

A couple of things. You might be able to look at the manual on line and thee will be something about a setting to work with TV. Also and this might be cocking things up, you need to remove the head unit and pull it out a little just to make sure that the phono AND video leads ( red and white and a yellow) are all connected and are all connected correctly so that they are sending the relevant signals to the TV. Sometimes the unit and TV are fine but only the audio is connected. Hope this helps a little

Sorry one other thing. Sometimes it's just a mode setting on the head unit, it may have been reset in the past or at a service and you haven't noticed if you never need the TV until now.

Thanks for all the responses, now sorted. the video lead from the radio was in the wrong socket.
