We park the mh across the front of our bungalow, has mi fi with an unlimited data sim, i am wanting to get rid of the home broadband but the signal from mh isnt strong all over the house, would a booster work and any suggestions as the what type would be the best?

Can't you just bring the mifi in the house when not traveling in the motorhome ?
Or get a second mifi.
I had a Huawei 5577 (?) mifi but I found the battery was getting fried through being permanently connected and had swollen.
So I picked up a second hand Netgear nighthawk 1 that will work without the battery being installed.

You can keep a mini powered up similar to charging mobile etc via adaptor and usb socket but by what you explained I am presuming you are also using a booster fitted in your van so you would need some sort of booster for your home. I am sure more knowledgeable people will be along to assist.

Just plug into a usb in the house.
Didn't realise you had it plugged into an aerial in the moho, it won't wirelessly use the aerial but you could try it without the aerial, it may work ok or you could add an aerial to the house ?
Worth trying indoors with no aerial first

Im assuming its plugged into the aerial on the roof and sits on a magnetic base in the cupboard its a huawai if that helps i didnt want to keep removing the sim card each time we come home

Leave it in the van and get a set of mesh wifi extenders.
Tenda are cheap and work for us.
Broadband failed to reach the back of the bungalow but now with mesh have geat reception to the top of the garden.

Yes, mesh is the way to go. Have a look at Amazon Prime Day next Tuesday & Wednesday (?!) for possible price reductions.
I use TP-Link M5 mesh units and get great coverage in the house and garden. The size of your property will determine how many mesh units you might need……

Just a thought - is there anything in your house (alarms/cameras/‘smart’ devices) that need a broadband/Wi-Fi connection whilst you are away in your ‘van - if you take your Mifi with you when you go, those devices would be compromised……?

How about taking the SIM out so you leave the MiFi in place and get a decent MiFi router for the house.

Theres nothing that needs the wifi while we are away, was thinking of making life easier than moving the sim back n forth

We ve frequently used ours in the house, just stick it in the window and log onto it, our 4g mifi seems just as fast as the fibre broadband for day to day use.

Dont you have a checklist for when you go away?

Is an unlimited SIM truly unlimited in the way that unlimited broadband is?

Or is it possible that a "fair use" policy might kick in?

I think to really test the system you would need to be doing some constant serious downloading.
I rarely manage to hit 100 gb. OH only watches YouTube and I watch iPlayer.

Make sure you don’t have Sky using your wifiI had EE rural broadband with 300GB in the house which works on a SIM card and got a sky Q box and it uses my whole 300GB in a week! I swapped with my camper van sim which was an EE unlimited phone sim and put house sim in van. They have, so far, not stopped the phone sim now operating home wifi.

We did exactly this using a Huawei B535-333 and a smarty SIM with 200gb data in an occupied house. It ran security cameras and a ring alarm and when I was present easily streamed movies no need for a monthly broad band package. I will say that the Huawei was the 3rd of 3 different brand MiFi we tried the other 2 brands proved unreliable. We also added an antenna because I couldn't place the unit close to an external wall. In all it seemed to work so well, we now have it providing WiFi in our garden.

Does the first mesh disk not need to be connected to the router by cable?
If so it cannot be connected to a mifi.

I’m not sure if an affordable ‘compact’ mifi would be suitable (no doubt a Nighthawk M1/M2/M5 would, but not so affordable……!) so I would suggest a router like the Huawei B535, which works off 12v, would be a better option - it has the necessary ports for a Mesh connection.
