Has anyone dismantled the dish motors on one of these? Have had an intermittent fault "error el" for some time and now its everytime. I am told the control box goes fault if it gets no movement signal. But before returning the unit to Kings Lynn I want to have another try myself.

If the motor doesn't move when it should it must be worth checking that it's getting power. More tricky if it's a stepper but either way it's worth checking it isn't stiff or seized. If the two motors are identical you could swap it with the az motor to see if the error changes. Even a failed gear or toothed belt drive could be the cause. You have nothing to lose by taking tbe cover off. You probably know this but .......... el is the elevation (tilt) motor and az is the azimuth (rotation) motor.
