So we have had a trip to Germany booked for 3 years on the trot, just me and Siân. I lived there for a couple of years and know the country well. The plan was to visit the caravan salon, and then whizz Siân along the old Berlin Corridor, sans East German border guards, and show her my old stomping ground of that great city.

Well, the last two years Katie has been too ill to leave at home even with her siblings. This year though, thanks to the wonder drug called Zilucoplan Katie is doing so well we were confident of getting away today. Until 7am this morning, when Siân got given a positive Covid test result text, presumably contracted this bug at Malvern. Since then she's been badgered with calls and texts and she must isolate for 10 days. That trip is scuppered again.

Looking at the calendar we just can't fit anything in. We have a couple of shows, a rally at our place. a hospital appointment and a knee replacement, all placed in the calendar by someone determined not to give us a couple of weeks away.Oh and how we need it.

Ah well. even without a trip out, 2021 is still the best year ever.

I hope Sian doesn’t suffer too badly with this horrid virus and you manage your trip away ASAP. All best wishes to Katie.

Only if you believe in God!😀
Hope the missus has a mild case.
As others have said, there will be plenty of time to travel.
Youve won the lottery anyway, with your daughter getting better👍

Oh Lordy Jim, I’m so sorry to hear that. Please give Sian a big hug from me, I hope she’s asymptomatic and not poorly. Gutting to miss your trip.

Bugger , the best laid plans and Sod’s law , especially when a break is really needed.

Surely the message has for some time been if you want to avoid contracting Covid avoid large gatherings Boardmasters being just the latest example. We have avoided all Boat shows, County shows and other large gatherings we would otherwise have gone too. We have a long delayed major family jaunt planned and have all avoided such crowds for that very reason. So far so good.

Sorry to hear your bad news lets hope its only a very mild case. Hopefully with no symptoms. Like others have said always another time.

Best wishes to Sian for a speedy recovery hopefully only a mild one .

Have given up on another Scandinavian trip for this year and keeping distant for hidaway spots in Cornwall

Crap news but good to hear that Katie is responding well to the new treatment.

Sorry to hear that. Hope anything is very mild.

Wishing Sian all the best through this and of course all your family

Worth getting a second test false positives are not unknown.
Sorry to hear you situation. We had planned on getting to Germany this year again but for the first time n a ling while it has been a staycation. Most sites have been good but the lack of Aires/Stellplatz is a real disadvantage to us as we are not great pub frequenters so that’s tend to be out for stopovers. Anyway, SWMBO demnanbds swimming pool wherever possible if stopping a few days so it worked out for us. However I will not be in Devon or North Somerset for a while in the narrow roads having smashed the passenger side wing mirror and then damaged the back end while reversing to avoid an oncoming vehicle. Fortunately the back end turned out to be an easy fix using two toggle straps and ingenuity plus repairing the lights assembly in a car park!

Was Sian 'pinged' not tested remotely? As my understanding is a double vaccinated person who is pinged does not HAVE to isolate .
Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick- and sorry your plans upended again. xx

She felt rough Sunday night so we went and got tested Monday morning at a drive through test centre, I came back negative Siân positive and was told to isolate for 10.

Thats rotten luck for sure. I hope Sians symptoms aren't too bad and she feels better soon.

Poor girl - hope she's feeling better really soon.

You will, of course, have to wait on her hand and foot for the whole 10 days 😂

I have done an LFT just in case and it was negative so it wasn't me that gave her the lurgy.
